Nationalism is good. That is patriotism. Nationalism is simply the opposite of globalism.

I honestly can’t say that it’s as simple and straightforward as that. But that is a good measure of how to define “nationalism.”

I reject globalism.

I am a big fan of my own nation. And I certainly don’t want folks in other lands giving us directions on what we should or shouldn’t do.

As for those of other lands, many of them are also big fans of their own nations. I’m fine with that, too.

My point being that nationalism is in itself no more inherently wrong than globalism. Whether putting your own country first or the whole planet (altruism), it really comes down to what you DO with either, rather than just which one you are.

That has always been the standard. My parents grew up in WWII. Back then, if you could walk, you served, even the wives went to work in factories to help out. I would not have wanted to be around back in 1940 and say publicly as an American that you did not support America in the war.

People would hand you your head.

I even have wood Monopoly pieces made during WWII; metal was so precious at the time that they could not get metal to make the little player pieces so for a few years, they came made with wood pieces.
