The youth: Is 18 to young to buy a gun?

It's like you are telling me that I have no right to defend myself because some loon shot up a school, and I have to rely on the government to come and rescue me if I am in a bad situation? How can you NOT see that as a TOTAL VIOLATION of a natural human right? All of you who want to remain defenseless, by all means, go ahead. You cannot force other people to join you.

As long as one is over 18?

18 years old is still a child today. All you have to do is observe a group of 18-year-old boys (and I emphasize BOYS) and it is clear.

Yet, before my youngest son was 19 he at times had a 2,000 lb bomb at his disposal. Is that sane? He could at a whim have a small town reduced to rubble with a simple radio request. He could call Apache attack heli’s in and have them destroy what ever needs destroying. We give them that responcibility yet we can let them go buy an AR 15, or a bolt action deer rifle? He can have hell fire missiles shot into some haji turds lap, but can’t but a Glock?

I'm glad you brought that up. The military goes after 17 and 18 year old boys for a darn good REASON. They KNOW what I am saying is the truth. These are boys who are full of piss and vinegar (otherwise known as testosterone!). They have, for the most part, pretty much no fear of what MIGHT happen to them. It's pretty obvious.

Oooooh, I understand. Immature testosterone addled males can go have guns and weapons in a third world shithole where they can have their arms and legs blown off, but we can’t let them buy a Remington 700 here? As long as they are over seas they are adults?

I said that they shouldn't be able to. What is the MATTER with you people that you can't understand words?

I heard a really good one today on the Morning Answer 560 WIND in Chicago from a text they received from a listener. Why should we genuflect to the young?

I quote, "If you don't want someone 18 years old to have guns or drive, why would you want a 16 or 17 year old to set public policy?

1:13:05 on the podcast for 3/12/2018.

This dude nailed it!!!!
Stupid thread premise, false comparison fallacy.

Where is a '16 or 17 year old to set public policy'?
on every MSM network.

Let me break the news to you. Politicians set policy....
The 16 or 17 year olds are questioning that policy, which if I remeber properly they are fully entitled to do...

Why do you want to silence young people entering public discussion... How many kids have been killed by public discussion...
because many of them have no logical set up in life. their experiences in such things are throttled by adults. Therefore, i have no desire to listen to anything they have to say unless it is in my family circle, not national. They have no idea every probability that may exist for 300+ Americans. Why send them to school at all if they are that knowledgeable?
Yes, most conservatives are truly this stupid.

Stupid comment, as per usual. Why don't you try to add some of your own opinions to a thread for once instead of just saying the same lame goddamn thing every single time?

The OPs point, I believe, is to say that if 18 is too young to be able to handle a firearm, then it is also too young to participate in important decision making processes. Do you agree or disagree with that line of thought?

Well, everyone here must know by now that I am an unabashed 2nd amendment supporter. However, I do not have any issues with this law. I think the age of everything should be raised to 21 at least though. It's pretty easy to see how immature and thoughtless a lot of teens can be on a regular basis.
Yeah, and conscription by draft to be set to 21 also?

I didn't miss your point. But on the narrow point, I started my gun collection when I was 15. Never shot anything I wasn't trying to shoot.

I will say though that until you are 18, your parents should have say so over your right to have guns and should have responsibility for what you do with your guns

some 18 year old's arent responsible enough to own a q-tip - some are capable of gun ownership ..

the age of 21 is a right of passage - 18.. mot so much.
Move the voting age to 21?

Clayton tapes his own voice then plays it on dates instead of music. Frequently the girl leaves and he doesn't notice because he's so in love

Well. In The Great Satan, Inc(nlc---no liability cocksuckers) we can gladly accept you to the slaughter machine and you can shoot HUGE guns day and night !! Even at 17 !!!
We can also arrange a home loan for your wife and future lil meatheads to remain safe and erect a flag(and other things----because you'll be in an exotic location abroad fighting socialism and communism !!!! No worries young man, your lil redneck retards will have 100% access to medical care at the best facilities on planned-it urth !!!
BTW. If you get stationed overseas you can buy all the liquor and bullets you can dream of at the tender age of 18 ! ( ask the colonel for specific details---may not apply). HOWEVER Your house payments must be made by the 16 th of each month.Failure to pay will result in a reduction of pay on payday. MAGA !!!!!!!!

An 18-year-old is not really an adult at all. They are still teenaged children. Well, generally speaking anyways. Like I said before, there are always exceptions to the rules.

Many of those you call children have dropped

I hear what you are saying, I get it. Still, fact remains that he already own a few guns. He is only 20 since January and has seen things I wish he never has. He has made decisions that have cost other humans their lives, as in they no longer draw breath. So at the stroke of a pen and a few tweets this young man would be a criminal after 4 years of service killing the enemy’s of this wonderful nation? Na, just ain’t right.

Let me say it again for those who are reading IMPAIRED. I think the age of EVERYTHING should be raised to at least 21.

I think it should be 19, but there should be a single age.

As for 21 though, we have a huge problem in this country in that we actually teach our children to not respect the law.

If the law were things like don't attack people, don't steal, then we would respect the law.

When government is telling us what we can put in our bodies, that we can't defend ourselves, we aren't going to listen to that.

And it teaches us as kids not to respect the law. It sets us out on a bad path

I don't have a problem with kids using a gun under adult supervision. Just like I think 16 is WAAAY to young to be behind the wheel of a 2-ton piece of metal (especially when there are other people in their paths), I also think that 18 is probably a little too young to be just able to go out and buy a gun without parental knowledge or approval. Most 18-year-old kids still live at home under their parents' roofs.

I think all people are taught or at least know those basic concepts. The problem is that some people just don't give a damn.

Stupid thread premise, false comparison fallacy.

Once again a point sails over the contentless blowhard.

The point is regarding intellectual maturity. That is clearly not a false comparison. Keep posting, no one could make you look as stupid as you do to yourself

Some, yes. I don't hurt people because it's my own personal moral code. But I have zero respect for the law and it's specifically for that reason. Nancy Pelosi who's protected by guns is going to deny me that right? Jeff Sessions is going to confiscate my property with no due process? George W Bush is going to tell me what I can put in my body?

My respect for law is zero, they earned it

I think most people at 18 are still rather self centered children. They don't have a lot of empathy or sympathy for others, and the world still revolves mostly around them in their opinions. That is a normal

Well, like every time we raise the ages, those who fall in the middle would be grandfathered in.

Oh, I can understand that completely. These rich and privileged think the rest of us are not "worthy" is what it really boils down to. We are simple paupers who are uneducated and stupid, the exact kind of thing the founders did NOT want happening in this country.
