Both alternatives are so weak.
We desperately need a strong and viable third party.
There's a plethora of other, "third" parties. Any ideas why none of them got "strong and viable"?
Third parties are subject to the same forces as the major parties are, vying for money and attention in the same markets, selecting candidates from the same population - but somehow, that "third party" will remain untainted, unaffected, and virtuous - oh, and "strong". Any other fairy-tales you tell yourself? Any other fantasies about strength helping you through the night?
Arguably, we get to observe what a "third party" looks like at this very time, that is, the Party of Trump. The "(R)" next to its name is merely a fake, and the Twitterati Empire has long cast aside once-GOP's empty hull.
So, what is that whining about the stubbornly-not-emerging "third party" supposed to accomplish? For all it does is to discourage voting, participation. That has two consequences: It is a direct assault on democracy, usually in conjunction with the alternate-universe Both-Sides Bullshit. And, it helps the Republica..., er, Party of Trump to win, since they HAVE their "third party", and are voting in huge numbers in subservience to their Dear Leader.
Here's hoping no one is so goofy as to fall for that benighted crap.
