The thing is, Reagan really was against tariffs.

4 days ago — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered that Pentagon personnel be required to coordinate all interactions with Congress through the building’s central legislative affairs office, significantly altering how military officials will speak with lawmakers.
And it's all right out in the open.

Well, Canadian authorities are wisely.pointing out certain U.S policies to try and convince Western Canada to not separate. Albertans are known for a love of personal freedom and if the U.S is viewed as the oppositie of that, as being more like Eastern Canada is known; there is no way they separate. Perhaps I don't give Canadian authorities their due. Maybe they are having their "Berlin Wall is falling" moment ad like the soldiers and border guards in East Germany drastically changed from a policy of firing on citizens to allowing them freedom, maybe Canada will become MORE free in an effort to convince Canadians that it is better here than in U.S.A.

Personally I found Canada better than the US, it felt safer

You smell like shit

Canada does use tariffs to improve its trade advantage and to protect its producers
TARGETED tariffs you moron.

Every country uses TARGETED tariffs.

EXCEPT Trump and Hoover.

By enacting tariffs on countries (that Trump has an issue with ) that don’t have a trade imbalance?
I firmly believe that you are worried about social justice over the decades if we had to pay for ourselves from ourselves. We are funding our own demise with the trade we have with China. And they are building their defense, space, high tech and military just to start with our money. You won't play the insurrection crap with them if they invaded us in your areas. The lifeless bodies would add up until you stopped.

It is a larger country with much fewer people, East Germany felt safer to Western Germans too. Is that the creepy nation you want to live in?

Why does being a larger country with fewer people matter?

I've lived in countries that are far, FAR more authoritarian than Canada.

Authoritarianism.isn't always overt, you couldn't possibly know in some nations especially if only visiting.

Nope. I was able to explain my postion and it is based on my reaction to the results of the policy. And I was here BEFORE Trump was. I voted for Patrick Buchanan back in 92.

You are here, arguing for REAGAN, a man you hate, becasue of Trump.

YOU are Trump's *****.
Can you say one negative thing about Trump

Success is not obvious enough since people are still feeling the pain of the worst overall inflation (19 percent) under a President in nearly 50 years. Passive subsiding of inflation after the worst of the damage has been done is nothing to celebrate.

The people have not seen any improvement in the day to day cost of living. The cost of living is more today than when Trump took office.
Wages are increasing about 3.3% in 2025. In 2024 wages were increasing by 5.1%.

inflation is one component of any given economy Elmer

another often ignored component is disparity , which if one takes the top say 1% out of the equation , ends up being less than stellar for the remaining 99%

This is how stats lie......

I agree. The rich have been getting richer and the poor are getting poorer for decades, under all Presidents. Trump's policies will accelerate the difference.

Its great that trump can take a poke from a minor politician with such mature good grace.
Its a clear sign that hes lost control of the economy

Keep telling the people that. The people are still feeling the burn of the 19 percent prices increase under Biden-Harris. So, do some math. Wages growing 5.1 percent after prices skyrocketed 19 percent to wages at 3.3 percent and the year is not over against prices rising 3 percent?

Had consumers not felt the pain of Biden-Harris economy, Harris would be President. But, the voters didn’t have faith in her economic plan to mandate universal price ceiling and tax unrealized capital gains.
