The Supreme Court considers Trump's Tariffs

This will be very interesting. Trump's wild, fluid, constantly changing, often punitive & random, impossible-for-businesses-to-plan-for tariffs -- which have played such a significant role in ruining longstanding global relationships -- are very important to him. He is just assuming that he can take the power to issue tariffs from Congress, and he is fully expecting "his" Supreme Court to let him.

This is a big deal. Will the Supreme Court fold for him? And if not, how does he react?

No, Congress did not decide Biden's tariffs; the President has the power to impose them...

What's funny is that you gave not a shit about tariffs when it was OBiden. But now your TDS has taken over.
Did you know you have to keep your bullshit up for 3 more YEARS! Ack, sux to be a Harris loser.

Ultimate Irony:

Trump takes the position that the dire status of US financial situation makes his actions on tariffs necessary and with the framework of the Emergency Legislation

Trillions in tariffs revenues to USA

SCOTUS rules: Nah it’s not an emergency

US forced to refund tariffs, dollar tanks, interest rates spike

Just another day in paradise

There are several laws regarding tariffs imposed by the president that the Supreme Court can consider as applying.

Not sure if they can consider all prior laws, or just IEEPA?

Tariffs themselves are only half the story, of course.

Because of Trump's typically disordered behaviors, we now also have to consider the way tariffs are applied.

And because the flock thinks Trump's way is the only way, they believe that massive, erratic, absurd, ever-changing, in-and-out, and even punitive tariff management, not to mention threatening, mocking and alienating our former trading friends and making it impossible for American business to forecast and plan ANYTHING, is the only way to go on tariffs. That's it. Period.

This is a cult. Like Trump, these people know nothing about foreign trade, relationship management, macroeconomics, forex, global macroeconomics, or fundamental business planning. There is nothing that can be said that would change their minds.

Just because you don't understand the logic of "fair trade" doesn't mean that we don't.

Take off your TDS glasses and look at the fantastic outcomes that Trump's tariffs have brought.
New revenue, about $400b a year, about $20T in new US plants, no barriers to US exports, balanced trade, etc.

Both were done as an "emergency measure".

The difference between Biden's and Trump's is that Biden's targeted specific things. Trump's are just being thrown around like a rag doll in a China shop.

(And not, I'm not totally disagreeing with the point you made, should Biden have used an emergency measure? No. Hopefully the Supreme Court will rule that such things are for the Congress).

Trump wants fair trade. If a country tariffs us at 50% why is it so horrible to set a 50% tariff on them?
