Nope. The people living on one income are often renting shared accomodation....I'm talking about the heavy population cities where rent is high. But that's a legitimate situation to talk about because it's high population and therefore a lot of people are in that situation.
Whereas back in the day, you can have a pretty mundade job and still have enough money for a place, that does not exist in a lot of the populated areas in America anymore. I spent a long time in one of these areas, and despite being at above minimum wage, I could never have my own rented place, and always shared with at least 2 other people. Often sharing with 3 other people and still living paycheck to paycheck. The fake reality you're talking about is commonplace.
