When you talk about gun banning and confiscation, those who want to ban guns and confiscate them throw out the "Slippery Slope," is a fallacy, doesn't exist and anyone who believes it is a fool......

The slippery slope is real, from smoking to guns to abortion, it is the primary tactic to get done what you can't get done in one sweeping act.......

Anyone with any level of basic reasoning and/or deductive ability must know by now that all policies of the radical American Left are about one thing only: control. Democrats or rather democrat ideologues and policy makers don't care about gun violence or gun deaths, they just don't want John Q average dude owning guns he can use to fight back against their subversive, postmodern-communist agenda. It's that simple. The brains of the democratic party want all of us to be like sheep prepped for the slaughter; wholly dependent on the government for every basic human need, including the need for self-defense. See the true hypocrisy here? The democrat intelligentsia claims to represent the height of civilized, compassionate man while at the same time attempting to force regression to the ultimate human barbarism. They're insane really, and they revel in it.

Slippery slope
A slippery slope argument, in logic, critical thinking, political rhetoric, and caselaw, is often viewed as a logical fallacy in which a party asserts that a relatively small first step leads to a chain of related events culminating in some significant effect. Wikipedia

Call it what you will, Slippery Slope, Scope Creep, incrementalism etc. In this context, the tactic is to establish a foot hold with a new law with limited intrusion. The end game is to keep amending the law until the final goal is achieved.

Just look at smoking....

-Just want warnings on the packages.....

-Just want separate areas in a restaurant for smokers....

-You will ban smoking inside and only allow it outside the entrance....

-You will move the smoking area out at least 50 feet from the entrance...

And now they are talking about smoking in the home....

Abortion...

Safe, legal and rare....

Banned after the 1st Trimester.......for the life of the mother....

Now? Up to the moment of birth and according to Virginia Governor Nortram....even after the baby is born......

Guns...

We just want to ban "Saturday Night Specials," inexpensive guns used by criminals...

Now.....as seen at the CNN townhall..they want to ban all semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns and want to ban magazines that hold, in some cases, more than 5 bullets....

The slippery slope is the tactic of the left...and it is real...

Gay marriage....

We only want to be able to be married to the people we love....

--if you refuse to bake a cake, take a photo or let us use your venue for our act of love....we will use the government to put you out of business....

--if you don't let men who dress as women use the women's bathroom you are a bigot, homophobe....

--if you don't let boys who say they are girls compete in athletic competitions against actual girls....you are a bigot and a homophobe/anti-lgbtqxyz.....

If you do any of the above....you will now be targeted to lose your job, and be banned from social media....

The slippery slope is real.....and a weapon.

One real example of slippery slope is areas where people are allowed to smoke. When I was a kid smoking was allowed most everywhere. Airplanes, hospital rooms, in the workplace, teacher's lounges, restaurants, etc. In the south, a person could smoke several cigarettes while shopping for groceries an no one would say anything. As I got older, places started having smoking areas. of course, having a smoking area in a restaurant is like having a peeing area in a swimming pool. Today, smoking is banned from most public places. This didn't happen all at once, it was incremental -- slippery slope.

The anti-gun people will never be happy with just a few restrictions on guns, it will be incremental until guns are practically banned.

Its a fallacy to call it a fallacy.

Just ask Neville Chamberlain.

I'm not sure restrictions on smoking tobacco is such a great example. If it was introduced today, it would be banned as a cancer causing public health threat. The main reason for its incremental prohibition is to pacify its addicts until they die off.

Odd isn't it that you left out the slippery slope is the tactic of the Right- and it is real.

Abortion is a prime example.

The Right has been working at eliminating all abortions since Roe v. Wade.

Over the last 20 years the Right has used various spurious claims to justify telling women what they must do with their bodies- all the time piously claiming to the Supreme Court that of course the intent was never to try to eliminate a women's right to an abortion. But of course all along this was the goal.

Remember when the Right used to say that they would understood exceptions for incest and rape? Now the slippery slope has managed to go past that to saying that yes- even that 12 year old raped by her father can't take a morning after pill, or she will face prosecution for murder.

Because for the Right it is all about control.

Once they manage to make abortion illegal in some states again, then they can start working on criminalizing birth control for women.

Because as the OP said- the slippery slope is real.

Getting women to stop killing their innocent babies is a problem for you? Killing is killing no matter how the baby is created........

I never said that.....I always support "for the life of the mother," restrictions for real "life of the mother," issues....rape and incest do not equal the death penalty for the child.....

It isn't about control, it is about not murdering an innocent human being.

Because they are incrementally beginning their campaign after they had to stop it when clinton lost congress in the 1990s....they stopped pushing gun control because it was one of the major reasons they lost power in the House....they now think they can start pushing it again, though the loss in Virginia today may show them the error of their ways...

And as I posted....they started out in the 70s with banning "Saturday Night Specials," and today they call for banning magazines that hold more than 5 bullets and for banning all semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns....and they are trying to pass those bans at the state level with the hope the democrat party judges on the circuit courts will let them stand.

Why do you say they don't care about rape and incest victims? They obviously can do both, care for the victim of rape and incest and care for the other innocent victim...the baby.

You need to dehumanize the baby so you can feel okay with killing the baby.....got it.
