The Shawshank Redemption at 30: is it really the greatest film ever made?

Actually the only true guard bad guys are the warden and the head guard. The rest are just people doing their jobs.

And The "sisters" weren't portrayed in a good light.
Which is funny, the only bad prisoners were the gay ones.
:D

The prisoners were sympathetic because the ones we knew the most about were either innocent or knew they were criminals and had long accepted their fate being incarcerated.

In the movie his name was Redmond hence the name Red

Morgan Freeman made the movie
I can't imagine it without him.
As long as a person can suspend reality pretty seriously, it is a good movie.
The character I always like best was actually the old man.

Greater than The Godfather???
HAHAHAHAAHHA
Hot take: Godfather is way overrated.
I hated Pulp Fiction.... didn't jell at the end... like a book with the last 20 pages ripped out....
Well in fairness the end was in the middle because the movie was non-linear. I thought that made it better.

No, of course not. But I would put it in the top 100 American films.

It's right up there with "The Bridge on the River Kwai", and "Out of Africa".
