The Shawshank Redemption at 30: is it really the greatest film ever made?

First time I watched the movie it was entertaining.
Second time viewing found it a lame fantasy story.
Doubt there will ever be a third.

Have you seen pulp fiction or Schindler’s list

It is a very good film. The greatest? No. But on a list of contenders. Sure

I suspect not. But its worth a shout.
I will have a think about this.
No, not the greatest movie ever, but certainly a great movie.

It's one of the few movies based on a Stephen King story I actually like.

Stand By Me is another.

It’s definitely up there. Great film.

I just rewatched the talented Mr Ripley and that was pretty good..

Same with Fatal Attraction.

The Appartment is probably the best film ever. All of life is there and Shirley Maclaines long legs get a scene to themselves.
Agreed. It’s Billy Wilder’s best. He wrote, directed it, and was a major backer. When I hear people say they don’t make movies like this anymore , I think of The Apartment.

The Birdcage.

American attempt at French farce was very good.

Robin Williams having a nervous breakdown in the kitchen because of boys playing leapfrog on the soup plates.
