The SAVE America Act is dead

otoh, why subscribe to dependency, unless you can admit you can't stand on your own two feet in this life?

~S~

Glad you have your own little piece of heaven, but what you said there is just spot on.

My parents may have gone a tad bit overboard raising my sister and me to be independent, and there are some costs and sacrifices in being that way. However, it also allows you to accept responsibility for your failures (or more or less insists that you do), and that can lead to a shorter cycle of figuring own your shit out. :auiqs.jpg:

Edit:
As far as the SAVE Act goes, I don't like it, the US Constitution allows it, but it doesn't really matter because my state already requires proof of citizenship to register to vote, doesn't allow non-citizen to vote in local or state elections, and we are already required by law to show a driver's license or state issued ID every time we vote.

We have taken care of our crap already.
I don't even have to be a hypocrite to support the requirements in the US Constitution, because we have already covered what my Classical Liberalism requires at the state level.

Do you want the federal government being in charge of elections OP?
Nobody is asking it to be in charge of elections, we just want to make sure only citizens vote.

why is that such a bad thing?

I don’t get why they don’t make them actually filibuster. The point of the rule was never to stop legislation but slow it down. If you want to filibuster cool get up there and talk, as long as you’d like. But when you stop we are voting and nothing else gets done until we do.

After the 2012 election 1500 illegals were found to have voted in one county (Prince William) during a ongoing VSP investigation.....When Terry McAuliffe took office in 2014 the investigation was ended by the dem administration. No arrests or prosecutions.
Post that evidence please. Thanks.

I sit here and shake my head at how the powers that be keep us bickering and some (or most) don't even realize the fundamental issue.

#1 Voter ID at the time of voting is NOT about establishing citizenship, Voter ID at the time of voting is to establish identify.

#2 Out current registration model of "Voter Registration" needs to be shit canned and replaced with a newer model where there is no need for "Voter Registration".

I think the state AND the feds should count all votes. If you only allow one of those two groups to do it, youll always get a lot of cheating.

One thing that really bothers me hell out of me, and I'm sure many others, are the states or localities that KEEP VOTE COUNTING GOING FOR DAYS AND WEEKS AFTER ELECTION DAY.

WTF is up with THAT? Could only be one thing.....
FRAUD!!!!!!!!

So move. It should be up to the states how to assign their electoral votes.

What if a state decided they didn’t want women or minorities to vote? Should the feds overrule them based on the Constitution? Could the feds choose not to accept their electoral votes?

Bullshit. You just want a win for your side. You don't give a single solitary **** about the "sanctity" of the vote.

Elections should be made secure. The fact that additional security may help Republicans more than Democrats is very telling about which side is skirting federal law.

It doesn't take weeks.

And yes, it can take a few days to to produce "official" results not just because of the counting but also includes all the quality and verification steps required by state law before "official results" are validated.

You are including recounts in this when such events are triggered.

To paraphrase, "you can have it accurate, you can have it fast, but you can't have it accurate and fast".

Hard to get proof when ID isn't required and the people in charge don't want to know if it's happening. Harder still when absentee ballots and mail in ballots are sent out willy nilly and voting is allowed to occur for months instead of just one day.

The Federal Constitution says congress can pass laws regulating federal elections. I was wrong about this as well until corrected.
There are restricted measures that Congress can take on federal regulation.... several supreme court cases on it that I've just started to read.....

ID at the polls has nothing to do with identifying fraud.....we went centuries without govt pictured IDs required at the polls.....in order to vote. Were all those elections fraudulent and not valid? The answer is, NO. States have their own methods to verify and validate registered voters and a govt issued picture ID is not necessary to do that....same with absentee ballot votes, and early voting ballots....

FYI
FOR the 2020 presidential election, absentee ballots WERE NOT sent out Willy nilly....
The problems and mess they had was during the primaries ....which were all corrected before the presidential election....there was no Willy nilly, duplicates, etc etc sent.... during the presidential election.

You are solution seeking for a non-existent problem....
Which can disenfranchise citizen voters....which is the real purpose of the GOP with this.....

Some of the States don't care.

Some issue IDs to illegals, as well as have "motor voter" registration at the same time.

You are deflecting as a good little Dem bot.

Absolutely intolerable.

Yes. If the feds try to lie, the states have the voter rolls to prove otherwise.

Sure, sure. Spin whatever excuses you want. I'll still oppose this kind of expansion of federal power. I know you guys are suddenly all excited about gaining new power for your goons, but the other goons will be back in charge at some point and you'll regret it.
Requiring id to vote doesnt take away states rights to handle the voting.

Just mandates making sure ONLY AMERICANS VOTE.

But do YOU want the FEDERAL government to be in charge of US elections though?

Do I want the federal government to, "no".
Does the US Constitution allow the federal government to, "yes".
Do I respect the US Constitution with the understanding that it is not required to satisfy my individual desires, "yes".
Have I been provided a way to express my desires by the US Constitution, "yes".

Would I rather states handle this matter more responsibly with respects to the 70% or more People who support the idea, "yes".
Have they failed to take the proper measures to do so currently, "most have".
If the bill passes or fails in Congress, will it have any effect over what occurs, or is required to vote in my state, "no".

Am I a hypocrite, when I have already helped ensure the proper measures have been taken to secure the vote and disallow non-citizens to register to vote, as well as ensured the ability for proper identification to be required every time someone votes, when that is precisely what my principles require, and to the best of my ability with respects to the US Constitution, "absolutely not".

Now that we have cleared all that up, you give it a shot MarcATL, or feel free to ask any question I may have left out.
