Glad you have your own little piece of heaven, but what you said there is just spot on.
My parents may have gone a tad bit overboard raising my sister and me to be independent, and there are some costs and sacrifices in being that way. However, it also allows you to accept responsibility for your failures (or more or less insists that you do), and that can lead to a shorter cycle of figuring own your shit out.

As far as the SAVE Act goes, I don't like it, the US Constitution allows it, but it doesn't really matter because my state already requires proof of citizenship to register to vote, doesn't allow non-citizen to vote in local or state elections, and we are already required by law to show a driver's license or state issued ID every time we vote.
We have taken care of our crap already.
I don't even have to be a hypocrite to support the requirements in the US Constitution, because we have already covered what my Classical Liberalism requires at the state level.
