On LGBTQ+ Rights, Ghana’s Bishops Choose to Ignore Pope
As the Catholic Church continues to make more inclusive comments about LGBTQ+ rights, the Church's leadership in Ghana supports a violent and repressive draft law targeting LGBTQ+ people.

If it's not already too late, read the linked article with the following distinction in mind: The Pope has said that the Church should welcome sexual irregulars - as long as they remain celibate, and even if they are in legally recognized relationships. But to be clear (which the Pope often declines to do), irregular sexual acts (fellatio and buggery) REMAIN MORALLY PROHIBITED.
Homosexuality - the sexual attraction to people of the same sex - is nothing more than a tendency and is morally neutral. It is homosexual acts that are morally prohibited. Just as the desire of a married man to copulate with women who are not his wife is a tendency that is morally neutral, as long as it does not devolve into lust or adultery.
So the writer of the linked piece either ignorantly or maliciously ignores this distinction, even giving the impression that the Pope sanctions homosexual buggery, etc., if it is in a committed relationship. There is no contradiction between "welcoming [celibate] sexual irregulars" and condemning - or even legally sanctioning the acts with which homosexuals are usually associated.
I'm no fan of the current Pope.
