The most accurate 2016 presidential poll was IBD (Investors Business Daily), they call it a very close 2020 race

Who has "ramming speed" to finish the campaign stronger in the last (3) weeks of campaigning?

  • Joe Biden

    Votes: 1 9.1%
  • Donald Trump

    Votes: 10 90.9%

  • Total voters
    11

The most accurate 2016 poll was IBD (Investors Business Daily)
The very first 2020 IBD daily tracking poll shows Biden by 2.6%, within the margin of error
So throw in the Kanye voters
Throw in the "Stealth Trump voters", those who would never admit to voting for Trump
Throw in the "security mom" vote, who does not want to defund the police
Throw in the energy sector families, law enforcement families, and those who know Biden is just too old....
Trump looks to be in fine shape for the election.

You must be drunk. Read the RCP poll average.

The IBD/TIPP poll has Biden with a 11 point lead. This is what they are saying.

"In 2016, almost all presidential election polls pointed to a Hillary Clinton victory over Donald Trump. The IBD/TIPP Poll was one of only two election polls credited with predicting President Trump's 2016 victory. TIPP, IBD's polling partner, succeeded in picking up on the greater enthusiasm among Republicans for their candidate.

Yet the latest IBD/TIPP Trump vs. Biden poll has a few stark contrasts with the Trump vs. Clinton race. Most obviously, a majority of likely voters back Biden (51.9%). Yet Clinton's support topped out around 45% in IBD/TIPP presidential election polls in the final weeks of the 2016 race.

Further, Biden's 9-point lead among independents in the latest IBD/TIPP 2020 election poll is a big turnaround from 2016. Trump carried independents 43%-42% in 2016, according to a postelection Pew Research survey of verified voters."

No matter who wins ...most Americans didn't vote for trump in 2016 and they won't in 2020. That's all we need to know....the majority of Americans dont get to choose who they want as a president.

All we need to know is that the Electoral College elects the president, not the popular vote.

"Undecideds" historically tend to break to the incumbent.

No they do not. Look at 1980. Ronald Reagan held a 3 point lead in the final polling but he won by 10. This does resemble 1980 with the numerous crises.

The electoral college is affected by the popular vote. Clinton lost the electoral college narrowly but won the popular vote by just under 3. If Biden wins by 7 or more, he will win the electoral college.

The OP presents the case that even a small Biden polling advantage may not win based on the various constituencies that decided the 2016 election. I can specifically vouch for union workers that are counted as Biden democrats, but vote for Trump for more work, especially in energy, manufacturing, and law enforcement, as well as more minority support.

Democrats, don't listen to these polls. Americans hate Trump. Biden is up like 20 something everywhere. These are just dumb Trump supporters looking for hope. Derp.
