I (and most on the left) oppose the death penalty because it doesn’t work and is misapplied. How many murderous cops have been executed? Pretty much zero.

The death penalty is wrong on every level. Every civilized nation on earth has ended the death penalty as cruel and barbaric.

Nearly 1/3 of the people who are currently given the death penalty, are later exonerated. So guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt" seems not to be such solid footing.

A few months back, there was a case where even the prosecutor and the victim's family agreed that the man was innocent and wrongfully convicted, but the governor refused to commute his sentence and he was executed anyway. It was Missouri and the inmate was black.
