Tennessee has passed tighter regulations around voting rights for those convicted of felonies. Now, regaining the franchise will be significantly more difficult for around 471,000 residents.

Under the new protocol, felons must either receive a full pardon from the governor or have all their citizenship rights, including firearm ownership, reinstated by a judge before they can apply to restore voting privileges.

At one time more states didnt allow Felons to vote because when you dared to take the rights of others away in the harshest manner, then you lose your rights of being a citizen. Then the leftist started harping that if the Felon did his time, he/she/it should be allowed to vote since he paid his dues to society, but not the person/s he/she/it infringed upon. Well if that is the case and they should be absolved of the crime, since they did the time, they should also be able to go out and purchase a firearm, as owning a gun is less dangerous to society than installing the Marxists/ Democrat Fascists....

Actually it goes beyond just voting, far beyond. In NYC, landlords are forbidden from asking prospective tenants about their criminal history, and in several states, so are employers.

Why, in the interest of liberal "fairness", does it make sense to allow convicted Child Molesters the right to choose school directors, judges or DA's, or even worse, be allowed to move into family areas without anyone's knowledge and take jobs as kindergarten teachers?

But Missouri felons have a lifetime ban on owning firearms, unless they've been officially expunged. Unless it's a federal crime, then the lifetime ban stays in effect.

I have a friend that over 40 years ago did something stupid got 5 years in jail, and to the day still cant own a firearm, even though he has lived an ideal life, a family, a very nice paying job, yet cant defend himself. I will try to seek a pardon for him, once President Trump gets back in office.

Part of the reasoning for the penalties imposed upon a felon is to deter crime. We can not weaken that factor.
