Agreed. Once the US and Israeli defenses are used up the older strike weapons that Iran is using first, Israel could be unmercifully pounded, and then Israel will have to decide whether to use its nukes to stop that.

. . . and if Israel dare do that, it will inevitably bring in Russia and China. I have heard that even Pakistan would get involved at that point, but I hear they are now tied down fighting the Taliban.

The only problem here is Iran isn't only attacking US bases, rather hitting the population of those countries.
It's not up to us to defend them. We've given them state of the art weaponry and training.

You've been reading too many cereal boxes. Iran's old stuff doesn't work at all. What they have that does work are their missiles and drones, but not very well overall. At least not against modern defenses.

The technology to defeat them was developed in the 1960s, most notably with the SPRINT missile.

But there are newer designs that outperform it.

The Aegis system on our warships right now, are fully capable of handling a hypersonic missile in its terminal phase.

The British Seawolf system is likewise capable. That system was developed in the 1970s and they calibrate it by intercepting 4.5" naval cannon shells.
