If all scripture came from God I'd think you want to know everything God has revealed. If scripture came from man then none of it reveals God. Or is it only Catholic scripture that come from God?

I grew up in a large family. I was quite used to us all having different views of the same thing--and I am not even referring to religion. There are a lot of different views of Donald Trump. They can't all be correct, so he must not exist, or if he does, he's just the creation of a number of people. Our President is man-made and a figment of our imaginations.

Trump has revealed himself to the world. People talk to him and he answers.

Are you a parent; did you have any siblings? Did everyone see your parents exactly the same? Do you see your children in exactly the same way? Are your relationships with everyone you know identical?

I am a parent and a sibling. I believe parents should let know their children know what is expected of them but all of their children should be told and judged by the same standards. The child should not have to guess what a parent expects.

They weren't cold blooded and could easily have developed opposable thumbs as many were arboreal. It seems that the ultimate in evolution was big brains.

Not sure why you think longevity is the measure of intelligence though. I would say look at accomplishments that are commensurate with intelligence.

I think longevity is the measure evolutionary success. The cockroach is an evolutionary success. Our success has yet to be measured.

I see it this way. If my gold mine is in California I have no need to go hunt gold in Africa, India, or even Alaska. My gold mine is the Bible, and as a good part of that was translated from Hebrew, there is quite enough to go through learning the languages, history and cultures of those times. Then we travel into Greek and Latin. I haven't gone through all the gold here yet, and as that is plentiful, I'm content.

That being said, I am receptive and attentive to those wishing to share their faith/religion with me. I especially enjoy the bits my Muslim students share. I also learned a lot about the Hindu faith from my daughter's college roommate.

My sister and a brother-in-law are Buddhist. And, of course the atheists in the family have their views as well.
