Zone1 Almighty God did not destroy Sodom for its pederasty

Historically, that does not seem likely as there were no Buddhists in that area during the first century and even later. A significant difference between Jesus and Buddha is Buddha had no belief in God, whereas Jesus had firm belief/knowledge of God.
Buddism existed a half a millennia before Chtistianity.
My main point is that these themes are not unique. They are common among many religions. immacualte conceptions, floods, astrological signs.

Beliefe in God in Buddhism is a choice. A Buddhist can believe in God. The key to ending suffering is contained within you.
Just like "The Kingdom of God Is Within You".

Belief in God is a choice in general, you don't need Buddhism for that.

I just don't buy the notion that the key to ending suffering is contained within me.

It's pure nonsense. I can't end all my suffering just like I can't birth myself or save myself from death.

Why would you think there were children in the Gay Community of Sodom? Contrary to what you may have been taught in the liberal schools, gay guys and transwomen can't bear children.
You have no idea whether women lived in Sodom or not. What a silly suggestion. Go dunk your head.

No, Votto, once again, you are missing the key point.
Belief in God is not required in Buddhism, but may be practiced.
As opposed to theistic religions where it is compulsory.

Your suffering is an illusion. Your illusion is derived from your senses. Your senses result from your craving and clinging. Your clinging results in your samsara...continual rebirth.
When YOU let go and cease clinging you end your suffering and thus you are freed from samasara.

-There is suffering
-There is a cause of suffering
-There is a way to end suffering
-There is a path to end it

It's all in you.

No God, no angels, no floods and tribes and desert Gods nuking rapists.

Pretty simple. Yet incredibly complicated.

There is suffering? So suffering is real?

How can it be real and an illusion then?

It can't be both.

Your feelings of suffering are a construct of your mind. They are illusiory.
You exist in an illusioary world directed by your senses. Take all of your senses away and what do you have? Reality is not directly perceived; rather, the brain and senses fabricate a dualistic narrative, such as perceiving color where only light wavelengths exist.
The mind interprets momentary sensory contacts as substantial forms, creating a false sense of a separate self and external reality.

It was actually due to its lack of hospitality, as there is nothing less hospitable than busting the cheeks of a stranger in town.

Doing a bible study of Gen 18 and 19 for Pride Month can teach people a few things.

Almighty God already knew that the Sodomites were into gaiety when He deployed His Holy Angels to the city for an investigation.

After all, He isn't All-Stupid. The city was named after the gay sex act, Sodom being derived from the word "sodomy'.

The problem wasn't the wide receivership of the people of Sodom, but that they were booty bandits, and that just isn't hospitable.

Why would an Almighty God have people do his writing? If he could create the earth and cosmos, why couldn't he do his own publishing?

You are a gnostic.

Perhaps think of it in terms of teaching. Is it better for the teacher to do the assignment for each student, or for the student to also be involved in his/her learning.

Who made you the illusionary police?

Prove it.

So, essentially what you are saying is that our reality is not reality.

Well, to us it is, so it becomes our reality. In that sense, is the illusion greater than reality?

I will agree on the premise that the material universe is an illusion due to the fact that the material universe is in a constant state of change, which will all eventually devolve into entropy like nonexistence. In that sense, did it even exist in the first place?

What lies beyond is God which is eternal.

Interestingly, suffering seems to be the biggest obstacle to believing in such a God. To deal with their suffering, people must either tell themselves that God is really still loving, and that our suffering he allows is temporal or can be fixed, or they are atheists and tell themselves that suffering is real, but that nothing really matters so if such suffering is too unbearable, they will simply kill themselves or medicate themselves into oblivion, or they tell themselves what you are saying, which is that suffering is not really real so they will simply try to endure and ignore anything and everything they that causes them pain with the goal of never feeling anything at all or caring about anything at all ever again.

Those seem to be the 3 ways of coping with suffering in this world, which we all experience which is something you say is not even real.

You are a gnostic. You are a ghost in the closet.

Everything is fake and gay and the more you believe it the more you are stuck in the illusion.

Kinda like the lotto.

I researched Buddhism to prepare for, of all things, my eventual death. It just freaked me out even more though because I came at it from the wrong angle. I came at it like a westerner "Now let's break this thing down"
Nah.
I asked a monk about these things and he just smiled and said "Just meditate".
Actually he said, "You think too much...you make meditate...reelack"
That's the whole shebang right there, centering yourself, focusing on right now, and letting go.
It's all meditation.
