That is such an inaccurate characterization. First, economics. The former Soviet Union, a communist country, has what is called a command economy. The government tells companies what, and how much, to produce. They command it. While Democrats may propose regulations they have never attempted to circumvent the free market system of determining production. That is a demand economy.

Socialism also has a specific economic component. While production might be determined by demand, the means of production is owned by the state. There a few examples of that in the United States, almost all found in North Dakota, and they have been around for something like a hundred years. There are no calls for nationalizing a single industry in the United States, although there are good arguments to nationalize the oil and gas industry, electric power generation, health care, and broadband internet providers. Those are complex economic arguments that few here are capable of processing. Suffice it to say that pure demand does not work in every market, especially when there is little elasticity and huge differences in a legal concept called consideration.

But it is hard to listen to comparisons of Communism and the Democrat party when faced with a Republican party that ostracizes anyone that does not toe the party line. Especially troubling when that party line is determined by one individual. Federalist 51 and 48, by Madison, addressed this problem quite eloquently. Needless to say, the founders would be absolutely appalled with the modern Grand Old Party. And Lincoln would have been totally destroyed by his chronic depression were he a member of that party today.

But he did it when the cost of servicing that debt was ten times what it is today. Clinton expanded the economy the real way, by actually producing more pie. And he eliminated the 30 year Treasury and replaced it with lower interest rate 10 year bonds. So when interest rates went from 10 3/4% down to 3% also peoples savings accounts went down the tube, thus making the poor poorer because their savings became stagnant. Yep i remember that because i saw that in my bank account, while investing heavily in Home Depot stock.

The Heritage Foundation? Are you serious? And that did absolutely nothing in the form of a rebuttal for my initial observation, that Clinton's restructuring of Reagan's debt at a lower interest rate saved the nation millions and in the process, preserved Reagan's legacy.

Besides, are you not saying that if savings account rates were better you would not have invested in your precious Home Depot stock? Uh, that was kind of what Clinton was striving for.
