Over the last few years, the evangelical movement has gone to great lengths to vilify any message coming out of any church that connects with the social justice movement. In a brief statement widely circulated in the evangelical world, prominent Christian leaders and pastors have claimed that the social justice movement is a danger to Christians, "an onslaught of dangerous and false teachings that threaten the gospel, misrepresent Scripture, and lead people away from the grace of God in Jesus Christ."

The problem for evangelicals is that the Bible is quite clear around the issues connected to social justice. Ignoring these issues requires completely ignoring the teachings of Jesus. It is fascinating to me, in a grim way, that the very people who claim to be holding onto the true form of Christian faith are in fact committed to destroying it.

You'll just have to forgive me for not believing people who aren't sure what sex they are and who want children to be abused without consequence. This world is sick and growing sicker. But the solution is inbound and all the propaganda in the world won't delay it a single second of time...

It is a mixed bag. The Bible is pro-immigrants/poor people but is is also explicitly against alternative lifestyles. As for Evangelicals, they are divided on some of this stuff.

Ten simple Commandments from God not the Expense of Government on Earth.

Ten simple Commandments from God not the Expense of Government on Earth.
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.

32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

I have always found the concepts expressed troubling. In the darkest days of my childhood, starving in the dead of New York winter, homeless, huddling in the underground, subway stations, some Christian in an agony of self righteous fervor helped. They gave us food, clothing, sometimes a place to stay. I am positive they thought they were doing the Lord's work following your example. They were really following a satanic path ensuring that our family misery lasted a bit longer. I hated them for it. It isn't Godly. Stop pretending it is.

If you really want to help the homeless and hungry, put a boot up their ass and tell them to get a job.

On the other hand, there are those Worthies who boycott the Rent Pimp every chance they get, which should warrant a boot kissing and polishing once in a while. Those who flaunt the means of production of shelter should receive boots, too.

You are mistaken. Christianity was, at first, the ultimate alternative lifestyle. To claim that the savior of the world was already on earth, and that he came preaching forgiveness and love for your enemies, instead of coming as a warrior to conquer the world was the ultimate sacrilege to the Jews. Jesus' teaching about the need to forgive and compassion for the poor and downtrodden was foreign to the Romans as well.

But since he IS G-d Almighty Himself, His Moral Law remains binding!
