The Donald Trump Double Standard

Nope the buck stop at the president.
Check your constitution, specifically taxing and spending.
So everything is on Trump, but nothing bad is Obama's fault got it. Obama wasn't really president.
The government hasn't shut down under Trump...yet.

Give them time! The Debt Ceiling issue comes up again at the end of Sept.! The Tea-Baggers are already set to shut it down to get what they've demanded for so long! Unfortunately it'll fail again even holding all 3 branches of gov't! It's kind of sad and pathetic to be this impotent with their so called bi-coastal mandate! They haven't gotten anything done since the election! :9: :bang3: :blahblah: :dunno: :cuckoo:
You're right. We WILL shut it down ... until liberals come to their senses.
What is the benefit of shutting down the government? What is it's virtue?
What makes you think the public won't see such a stunt for what it is, a fit of political pique and a display of ineptitude?

It isn't ---- it's clear that the Dems see "government shutdown" as a winning argument for them. Despite their intransigence, they have managed to paint the Republicans as the cause of shutdowns.

As long as they have that perceived threat, the Dems will control the narrative, even as the minority. The only way to change that is to accept the challenge, close the government, and point to the Dems as the reason. Now, with a Republican in office, he can dictate the terms of the shutdown - "we will fund Social Security, but we won't fund XYZ" - thus minimizing the perception that the shutdown is the fault of the government. The game has changed -but only as long as Republicans are willing to play the cards we gave them.

Of course, given the Republican majority in both houses of Congress, it is a simple administrative vote to change the 60 vote requirement - thus negating the Dems' advantage, and not harming the Republicans' position. And, you can bet that is exactly what is going to happen come September. 40% of the country will be pissed off, 40% will be snickering in their sleeves, and the other 20% will sit it out and see how it all unfolds.

WithmRepublican control at both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, how on God's green earth can you imagine pinning the blame on Democrats without looking even more inept?

People aren't stupid. Reality is reality. And shutting down the government cannot be swept away from the Republican threshold without clumsy spin, lies and "alternative facts".

You're right ... people aren't stupid. They realize that it requires 60 votes to pass any bill in the Senate that allocates funding. They also know that the Republicans control 52 votes. Therefore, they recognize that any passage requires an additional 8 Democratic/Independent votes.

So, they are well aware that despite the fact that a majority of the Senate would be in favor of a particular bill, a minority can hold the government hostage, despite their unpopular position.

It's called extortion, and I think you're going to find that this President is willing to call it what it is ... much to the Dem's chagrin.

I would like to see how you can "spin" that the Democrats' failure to accept the majority position somehow means it's the majority's fault. If the Dems want to truly become irrelevant for the next 10 years, force a government shutdown.

Has it ever really stopped them? A couple times it was an obscene exercise with Cruz reading "Green Eggs & Ham!" That shutdown cost about $20+ B; threatening our credit rating due to "debt ceiling" legislation pending! The House just left town without a deal; sorta like what they did with that last piece of garbage concerning the ACA! They knew nothing would happen, but still had this sense of accomplishment! Idiots; them & the people who vote them into office! :cuckoo: :dunno:

Yes, people are stupid. They are called Hillary supporters.
