The dollars and cents of tariffs.

Sales are directly related to what people pay for the goods in question.

Let them know, but let them know how much other far more hidden government charges cost them as well.
Amazon is going to let people know how much Trump's tariffs are going to cost them. Now watch the administration use their authority to punish them for it.

Because that's what authoritarians do.

You dip your feet into the political waters you should be ready for a political response.

Trump can whine and moan, but any attempt to punish them using government authority is corruption.

Sadly, it's the kind of corruption we've come to expect from these assholes.

Amazon should also include the cost of federal corporate taxes, social security taxes, local corporate taxes, and all the hidden taxes and fees found in utilities like power, gas and phones.

local sales taxes are already listed, so don't need to ask for those, just add them to the total.

You would really wake people up to the cut government takes on any purchase.

Amazon does publish this information ... they're a public corporation so they provide their Income Statement and Balance Sheet every year ... and they paid $7 billion in taxes worldwide for a net margin of 5.29% in 2023 ... {Cite}

And yet they didn't think of putting those numbers next to their checkout data, but with tariffs, they are thinking of doing it.

White House blasts Amazon over tariff cost report: ‘Hostile and political act’

The White House on Tuesday slammed Amazon for reportedly planning to display the cost of President Donald Trump’s tariffs next to the total price of products on its site.

“This is hostile and political act by Amazon,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said at a press briefing.

I think this is an excellent idea, Presumably they will list the country of origin, how much the item costs the importer, and how much the tariff is.

It's a political statement ... that's allowed in the United States ...
I can see Trump's annoyance over letting people know how much Trump has inflated prices, but Amazon's bread and butter is bringing us our pickles at the price or lower of local sellers, and you don't have to drive.

What has history taught us about people like Donald Trump?

Delusional in a self-aggrandizing way, ignorant of how others think and feel, unburdened by understanding, insecure and hostile towards any who disagree with him, surrounded by sycophants, none of whom will do anything other than feed his delusions with praise.

How do these things usually end?
