It all started with an NSA intercept of Russian communications.

The NSA intercepted calls between Michael Flynn and the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, in late 2016 and early 2017, revealing discussions about sanctions. These conversations contradicted Flynn's statements to the FBI and Vice President Pence, who were told that sanctions were not discussed. The transcripts of these calls were later declassified and released, showing Flynn urging Kislyak to moderate Russia's response to the sanctions.

That would be the James Clapper NSA, Postman? The very same James Clapper that had just been told by Barack Obama to ignore what his own intelligence officers told him (that there was zero evidence of collusion) and concoct a narrative of collusion to steal an election between the Trump campaign and the Russian government? The NSA wasn't "intercepting" calls between Flynn and Kislyak...they had tapped Flynn's phone through a FISA warrant based on the Steele dossiers. What they got Flynn on was lying to Federal agents, not collusion. The Comey FBI brought him in for questioning knowing that he wouldn't admit to contacting Kislyak before Trump was sworn in because that would be a violation of the Logan Act....something that hadn't been used against anyone since the Civil War because most incoming administrations start back channel communications with other countries before they're sworn in. Want to take a crack at telling me how telling the Russians that the Trump Administration would like them to moderate their response to sanctions equates to election interference?

But it was never a license to commit crimes free from eventual judicial scrutiny.

All SCOTUS has finally said is that if the allegedly criminal behavior comes within the ambit of his duties and authority under the Constitution, he has immunity. If it doesn’t, then he isn’t immune from eventual prosecution.

That is true, but a President, backed up by SCOTUS, has a special layer of protection and that protection is that the only authority given power to prosecute or discipline a President is Congress. And SCOTUS made it clear that protection continues once the President leaves office. If it was not so, every President that is disagreed with or hated would be in court for the rest of his/her natural life.

Our best defense against illegal acts by a President of the United States is to elect people who won't commit them.

And SCOTUS made it clear that protection continues once the President leaves office. The Logan Act, an 18th Century law, has never been used successfully against anybody ever. Even the one or two who have been charged with it back in the 19th Century were never prosecuted.

Obama told Brennan and Clapper to ignore all of their analyst's reports that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian Government and provide reports that said the opposite! I'm not sure if that is criminal but it sure as hell is as sleazy as it gets! It was because of THAT request that the country has had to deal with almost nine years of partisan investigations into what is essentially a nothing burger! All because Barry couldn't deal with his hand picked successor losing to Trump!

Did Barack Obama ask Brennan and Clapper to ignore their own analysts who said that they had found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian Government and provide reports that said that they HAD found evidence of collusion? Because I'm sorry but that IS Obama doing something and what he did was way beyond the pale!
