Trump, like most of the people here, have responded to the protesters as a threat and immediately grabbed for his guns. During his campaign, he promised law and order and jobs. On the surface, that might sound great, but that is not going to fix the underlying problems in the community. Racism. Poverty. Gangs. Trump offers simple, concrete fixes that don't address the causes, so the problems don't go away. It's a vicious circle, and I don't know how you break it; it sure doesn't get fixed overnight. But throwing more cops at the community isn't the answer (not that he did that anyway). And throwing military with live rounds at the people protesting racism is not going to solve it either.
The rioters have to be stopped but the protesters' message needs to be addressed. People were joining in large, peaceful protests yesterday during the day. When the curfews began, they needed to be home so those breaking the law could be dealt with. My problem is that Trump isn't acknowledging what the protesters are saying. He is the leader of this country, these people are bringing him a grievance, he needs to open a dialogue.
Just like all day yesterday, this post will get met with "they're rioters" "they're animals" "they're stealing" and then you get the chimp videos. It is all about warfare with this crowd, not using their ears or their brains. Just their mouths.
