the Biblical Basis for Socialism Is Undeniable, my friends

Where did Jesus or other biblical figures preach to redistribute wealth through the force of government?
By surrounding himself with the rich women and living off of them. He got the tax out of a fish.

Verse?

Who bankrolled his ministry?
Luke 8

Women Who Supported Jesus
8 After this, Jesus traveled from one city and village to another. He spread the Good News about God’s kingdom. The twelve apostles were with him. 2 Also, some women were with him. They had been cured from evil spirits and various illnesses. These women were Mary, also called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out; 3 Joanna, whose husband Chusa was Herod’s administrator; Susanna; and many other women. They provided financial support for Jesus and his disciples.
Irrelevant to the topic. Unless you think Jesus was collecting taxes for the government.
Thats exactly what he was doing.
Oh, good grief.

You think " financial support for Jesus and his disciples" was financial support for the government.

This is why so many people dismiss you.

What government was Jesus collecting taxes for from these women? Why would he not have collected taxes from others in the community, too?
Give to Caesar, what is Caesars.
Finish the verse.
17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
---------------------------------------------------
They paid their own taxes and he was just concerned about his. Taxes and Church tidings.
Taxes go to Caesar. Offerings to the Church are to God. Therefore, tell me again how Christianity is like a socialist state. Tell me how the Good Samaritan helped the guy that was mugged.

They expect people to support them.

Sure. People. Not government. I don't expect you to have government pay for my health care. Nor do I expect you to take other people's money by force, to pay for my health care.

Now if you want to donate to me, of your own free will and choice, by all means. But Christians are have never supported redistribution of wealth through government. Never.

In the Bible, there was always tension between prophets and false prophets

When you look today and see so-called white evangelicalism, you have to understand they are powerful, but they are not the majority of religiosity in this country. They are a loud, well-funded group. So we’ve got an unholy connection: Religion is being used as the cover for greed

Sure there are some who are doing that, has there always have been, since the before the Bible was even written.

Just like there are evil people who proclaim to support the good of the people, by forcing out jobs like Amazon, from New York, and claiming they'll spend a tax deduction...... Spend a tax deduction.... on schools and hospitals.

I don't support the crazy people in government, or the crazy people on TV who don't preach the Bible, but claim to be Christian.

Both are the same thing, you just think your fraud in government, is real.

As i began to read Marx and Engels, it reminded me of the biblical messages i grew up with

By then, I had spent several years realizing that things were not right in our society. And now I saw there were other ways to organize an economy that reward people for their work and enable them to sustain themselves. Capitalism was doing that for some, but it was leaving a whole bunch of other people to suffer and die. And I learned that these class issues could not be divorced from race and gender

There is nothing in the Bible that suggest anything close to Marx and Engels, or any other socialist view.

In fact Capitalism is all throughout the Bible. I could give you dozens on dozens of examples, but here's one to start with, for men trying to find a wife.

Proverbs 31, describes the Christian wife of noble character.

A wife of noble character, who can find? She is far more precious than rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he lacks nothing of value. She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She rises while it is still night to provide food for her household and portions for her maidservants. She appraises a field and buys it; from her earnings she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength and shows that her arms are strong. She sees that her gain is good, and her lamp is not extinguished at night. She stretches out her hands to the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household, for they are all clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known at the city gate, where he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the days to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well: “Many daughters have done noble things, but you surpass them all!”
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her at the gates.

So what can we learn from this in relation to the topic? In verse 13, it says she carefully selects flax and wool, and works them with her hands, and is like a merchant ships bringing food from afar.

What does that mean? Capitalism. Making a profit. She's buying goods, and selling them.

If you even try and question then, then look at 24 where it says she makes garments, and sells them to the merchants. Capitalism. Owning the means of production.

Then you look at property rights in verse 16, where she buys a field, and plants a vineyard. Again, property rights, and capitalism.

And this is qualities of a woman the Bible says a man should look for. What does that tell you about the Biblical view of capitalism?

We know all women work hard, and that is in the Jewish book, not the Christian book. We are to follow Jesus and not Paul.

Not a single syllable in scripture where he trashtalked the Emperor.

To be fair, the xtian Bible was written over 100 years after Jesus lived, by the time they were written, Romans had completely crushed Judean resistance expelled many Jewish families from Judea.

The authors of the New Testament were very comfortable with the idea of Roman rule of Judea and wanted their scripture to not be antagonistic to Rome.

Yeah? And? Saying "follow the law" doesn't mean, he was a tax collector for the government. And that's ridiculous, since the Romans were fairly oppressive to the Jewish people which were occupied by them.

The Romans were not running a welfare program for the Jewish people. Trying to fit those facts into some claim that Jesus was in favor of socialism, is blind ignorance.

Jesus was a socialist he lived off of rich women. And Jesus also paid taxes. This all according to the scriptures.

The tried to work with Jews but they didn't like the civil war in Galilee and Judea in the first century. That was a major trading route. Emperor Titus, right hand man was a jew, Tiberius Alexander.

Here's what the BIBLE says about socialism
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 2 Thessalonians 3:10

For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. 2 Thessalonians 3:11

Now we command and exhort such persons in the Lord Jesus Christ to work [a]peacefully and eat their own bread. 2 Thessalonians 3:12

Out of 27 books, all wrote by Jews, you can find 3 verses where it says people should work and not be busybodies, all wrote by Paul. I thought them verses were about gossip.

She brings him good and not harm all the days of her life. She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

So you are saying that Paul, a man who died for his faith in Jesus, and wrote the majority of the NT, is not to be follow? G-d had Paul write most of his book. We are following the Bible. And Jesus never wrote a book. Everything you know about Jesus, was written by other people.

Do you follow Luke? Or Mark? Or John? You either believe the whole Bible, or none of it. If you don't follow Paul, then you don't follow Jesus either, because Jesus sent Paul to write his book for us.

You don't get to pick and choose what you part of the Bible you believe. It isn't a buffet, or a choose your own adventure book.

Good ole Solomon, we don't have kings anymore.

Lets not give money to kids that don't work or give them healthcare. And welfare Moms , let all their kids starve.

There are no subsidies for oil and gas. That's simply a lie. Now if you want to cut tax deductions, I'm all for it. All tax deductions. Like deductions for having kids. Eliminate all those. Either you believe in no tax deductions or you don't. Don't be a hypocrite, and say tax deductions for you are good, and tax deductions for everyone else are bad. That makes you a hypocrite. Are you a hypocrite?

There are no "loopholes" in taxes. Anyone who has actually run a business, can tell you they are hammered with taxes.

Well those welfare moms should not be having kids, if they can't afford them. They should not be having kids if they are not married, and their husbands should be working to provide for their families.

Further, saying they will starve is stupid. Have you not learned by now that you are just wrong on that?

In the 1990s, the Republicans passed welfare reform. Over 3 million people were kicked off welfare. Welfare and food stamp rolls fell from 5.1 Million people, to 2 million, in just a few years.

Did their kids just die? Did they all starve to death? This just illustrates how stupid unthinking, and lemming like, the Democrat supporters are that they are played with like toys by their Democrat leaders.

If a Republican had been president, and cut welfare, you people would have been screaming that everyone was dying, just like you idiotically have with Trump and Covid.

But, Bill Clinton was president. So even though over 3 million people were kicked off welfare and left to fend for themselves.... you thought everyone was wonderful! All we heard about was how great the economy was under Clinton..... even while they kicked people off welfare and food stamps by the millions, and no one was screaming that children were starving to death in the gutters.

Yet here you are saying if we cut welfare, they will starve to death in the gutters. Ignorant and foolish people. Couldn't learn history if someone beat you on the head with it.

Jesus was not a socialist. Simply wasn't. He didn't say that government should confiscate people's wealth. Nor did he support government giving to people, the hard work of others. Nothing you just said, contradicts anything I'm saying. You are just ignorant. The Bible has capitalism all throughout it.

In fact, the only thing Jesus said directly about this, was in Luke 22:25 and 26.

Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that."

The Gentiles say "I'm your benefactor! I'm going to provide free health care! I'm going to provide free education! Free phones! Free housing! Free food!"... and on and on and on.

"But you are not to be like that."

Over and over, Jesus is not a socialist. He warned against being like those people, who promise to give everyone everything.

No, Jesus was not a socialist, and nothing you have said even suggests that.

It's both. You should work. Do a job. Not be running around gossiping.

And I've posted several verses. So has this other poster. So it's not just 3 verses. And we could list the parable of the talents, and the vineyard, and a few others.

There are dozens I could list. At this point, you are just refusing to listen to the facts. You can't debate the facts.

And I learned that these class issues could not be divorced from race and gender

you were mistaken God doesn't approve of stealing from to give to others.

Its not stealing.

Then if we all vote to take your home, and give it to the poor, you'll be fine with that?

Or 90% of your income? If we vote to do it, then it's perfectly fine? Easy to say that, when it's not your life that is being ruined, isn't it?
