Satan

For Christians to accept that explanation would mean we would consider the Revelation of John to not be inspired from God. Isaiah 14 of the Old Testament speaks of Lucifer as a being who sought to excel above God and who thrashed the nations with his power. It also speaks of him after being taken down as a man (Isaiah 14:16). My belief of who Satan is and was is that he was numbered among the more prominent of the sons of God known as the morning stars or sons of the morning in our pre-mortal existence as spirit children of the Father before coming to this earth. Lucifer was his name before becoming Satan. Having free will in the pre-mortal existence, Lucifer excelled to become one of the great ones among the Father's children. He became very prideful and sought to gain the very power of God. When presented with the idea of who would be the Savior of the world, Lucifer volunteered but was not chosen. Lucifer also came up with his own plan to save mankind by taking away their free will and forcing mankind to follow God. The Father rejected this plan because man would not progress by being forced to obey. Lucifer then rebelled against the Father and sought to get as many of God's children to follow his plan and not God's. Because of the open rebellion against the Father, Lucifer was named Satan and the devil, and was cast out of heaven for his open rebellion against the Father. He was cast into the earth where he serves the purpose of tempting us to do evil. In the end, he will be bound and placed in outer darkness for his rebellion and wickedness of trying get mankind to rebel. The following verses tell us of his past.

Revelation 12:7-11
7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Moses 4:1-4
1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying—Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor.
2 But, behold, my Beloved Son, which was my Beloved and Chosen from the beginning, said unto me—Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever.
3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down;
4 And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to deceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.

Abraham 3:24-28
24 And there stood one among them that was like unto God, and he said unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell;
25 And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;
26 And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.
27 And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first.
28 And the second was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

Doctrine and Covenants 76:25-29
25 And this we saw also, and bear record, that an angel of God who was in authority in the presence of God, who rebelled against the Only Begotten Son whom the Father loved and who was in the bosom of the Father, was thrust down from the presence of God and the Son,
26 And was called Perdition, for the heavens wept over him—he was Lucifer, a son of the morning.
27 And we beheld, and lo, he is fallen! is fallen, even a son of the morning!
28 And while we were yet in the Spirit, the Lord commanded us that we should write the vision; for we beheld Satan, that old serpent, even the devil, who rebelled against God, and sought to take the kingdom of our God and his Christ—
29 Wherefore, he maketh war with the saints of God, and encompasseth them round about.

Isaiah 14:12-17
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

Luke 10:18
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Doctrine and Covenants 29:36–38
36 And it came to pass that Adam, being tempted of the devil—for, behold, the devil was before Adam, for he rebelled against me, saying, Give me thine honor, which is my power; and also a third part of the hosts of heaven turned he away from me because of their agency;
37 And they were thrust down, and thus came the devil and his angels;
38 And, behold, there is a place prepared for them from the beginning, which place is hell.

Satan may be dressed in various faiths, but in practice it is neither. Not even theological. Satan is a working knowledge of poisons, and medical / psychological procedures, with the intent to harm.

How the Jewish and Christian faiths differ on who is Satan.

I am Satan. Just ask that "one tree" guy.

Satan is very real and a very powerful being. He will tempt you and you usually don't realize he's doing it, i.e. he loves to hide. People will blame God for their problems instead. The best way to get rid of him is to say, "Get lost Satan." In your case, "Get lost Crepitus Satan."

I am sorry, man, but this is not true. If you begin to read from the chapter 13, you will clearly understand that chapters 13 and 14 talk about Babylon. What you wrongly claim as Lucifer being described there relates to the ruler of Babylon. There cant be any doubts about it for anyone who reads this chapter.

Satan is the great ruler in spiritual Babylon. Revelation is inspired scripture from the Apostle John and he outlines the fall of Lucifer from heaven and his followers and also the fall of Satan and his great city Babylon on this earth. Christians accept this as truth. Isaiah 14 is saying the same thing. Satan rules in Spiritual Babylon. The wickedness of the city of Babylon is used throughout the Book of Revelation as a representation of the wickedness of the world. Spiritual Babylon is what all mankind needs to leave and come unto God. At the Lord's second coming he will destroy spiritual Babylon.

Revelation 17:5
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth.

Revelation 18:2-24
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Revelation 14:8
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Shame on you.

The destruction of Babylon by the Medes is a type of the destruction at the second coming of Christ of the spiritual city of Babylon which is the whore of all the earth, ie the wickedness of the world. This is what Isaiah 13 tells us. From verse 1 in Isaiah 14, Isaiah prophesies of the gathering of all the house of Israel back to the land of their inheritance before his second coming. And verse 7 tells us of the time of the Millennial rest that will come upon the earth. Before the Millennial rest shall begin, the Lord will destroy the hosts of Lucifer (which is spiritual Babylon) and he will be brought down to the ground. Shame on you for not understanding the prophesies of Isaiah. There is dualism in many of the events of the Old Testament which relate to the end times and the second coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who is the Great I Am.

16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

Luke 10:18
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Doctrine and Covenants 29:36–38
36 And it came to pass that Adam, being tempted of the devil—for, behold, the devil was before Adam, for he rebelled against me, saying, Give me thine honor, which is my power; and also a third part of the hosts of heaven turned he away from me because of their agency;
37 And they were thrust down, and thus came the devil and his angels;
38 And, behold, there is a place prepared for them from the beginning, which place is hell.
In regards to Isaiah, you have taken verses out of context and have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
Shame on you.
You don't have the right to start God's prophesy from anywhere but the first verse.

At the Lord's second coming he will destroy spiritual Babylon
No, Isaiah doesn't say this. That is clear as a day that he talks about Babylon and its ruler (in literal sense). I read the Bible in the Russian Synod translation, and even it doesn't mention Lucifer in these chapters.

I understand that sometimes there can be different interpretations of some verses. But no interpretation should contradict the overall context and the common sense.

Satan may be dressed in various faiths, but in practice it is neither. Not even theological. Satan is a working knowledge of poisons, and medical / psychological procedures, with the intent to harm.
This is close, I think, although I don't know where you get poisons from.

For certain, Satan is no ruler of some dark underworld. Jesus referred to Peter as Satan when Peter opposed God’s plan because his mind was not on God but on man (Mt 16:22-23). Obviously, Peter was not an evil being from hell. He simply opposed God. The Israelites had always used the term “devils” (or “demons”) in reference to idol worship (such as idols in the form of goats).

Satan was the ruler of the temple peoples’ world (and the Adamic peoples' world); he was the reason Jesus called them hypocrites. He was adversarial to God. He was the embodiment of the Pharisees and chief priests who sought Jesus’ life (Jn 14:30) and who were judged in the Jewish-Roman Wars (Jn 16:11).

Consider their adversarial stance toward God in the city of Pergamum, where Satan dwelled (Rv 2:13). Satan resided in Pergamum because when John of Patmos wrote down his vision, Pergamum was a city where the Great Altar of Zeus silhouetted the skyline. The Revelator commended the brethren there for not worshipping at that altar, though a few of them had bowed in some indirect fashion to the false prophet Balaam (2:14).

Satan, sin, the serpent, was idolatry. It stood between man and God. That's all, really.

Isaiah was written as a warning to the Jewish people. return to the Torah or bad things will happen. That is what the writers of Isaiah were saying.
