Thank you Donald Trump ... Fed study: Trump tariffs backfired, caused job losses and higher prices

Tariffs fail again as they always have. As every economist knows. Only the repubs would keep trying to stick that square peg in the round hole...

You almost gotta laugh. Left wing hypocrite headlines scream "Trump tariffs backfire, cause job losses and higher prices" while the link says "we find that tariff's are associated with relative reductions etc". Meanwhile the DOW is consistently in record territory, consumer confidence is at an all time high, unemployment is at a record low and about 7 million jobs have gone unfilled in 2019.
Yeah the DOW was stagnant until it started looking like this trade war may be over. I’m sure it will take a dump if we get news it will continue.

So maybe you can answer. Are tariffs bad for other countries or just the USA?

Wage increases and broader employment increases are FAR better than lower prices from goods made in China, while the unemployed drain tax resources. Without tariffs, all these businesses were doing is shipping jobs and getting massive govt. "bail outs" in the form of welfare and other expenses the people they forced into unemployment needed.

Wage increases for U.S citizens were in the thousands a year, while nobody is forcing them to purchase from "producers" who imported from China. If they increase prices, than just buy locally, no problem. Small price increases for someone who now has a job is exponentially better than someone being unemployed. Let's see the relative purchasing power, disposable income stats.

The only people hurt by tariffs against Communists are those hurting America by employing Communists. I'm all for global trade, as long as it is based on talented and innovation, not just a race to the bottom to prop up Commies.

The only way to solve this is by equalizing the value of currencies with competing countries. Jobs move to Mexico, South America and China (and other countries) because those countries have near slave wages.
Take Mexico for example: The minimum wage down there is $5 per DAY (not hour) so an American company can produce it's product and pay squat compared to what it costs here.
But all that has to do with confusing factors, like the Federal Reserve and corporate lobbyist who pay Mexican politicians to keep their economy in the dump.

Solving that problem, would also solve the immigration problem. But there's big money involved. And that's an area that even our government isn't allowed to touch.

One doesn't mess with big money and stay alive or rich.
