Texas House votes to ARREST runaway Democrats for blocking voting rights bill: State Dems sing outside the Capitol and insist they are willing to go t

Republicans in the Texas State House voted 76-4 on Tuesday to arrest the runaway Democrats who fled to Washington D.C. to break the quorum and block the passage of Governor Greg Abbott's voting rights bills.

'Members, a sergeant-at-arms and any officer appointed by him are directed to send for all absentees whose attendance is not excused for the purpose of securing and maintaining their attendance under warrant of arrest if necessary,' Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan announced from the State House floor.

Texas House rules allow the sergeant-at-arms to arrest members who are not present at the Capitol for a vote – and the show of disapproval Tuesday could result in the lawmakers' arrest when they land back in the Lone Star State.

The Tuesday, however, vote doesn't hold much weight as long as the Democrats remain in Washington since by crossing state lines they have escaped jurisdiction of Texas law enforcement.

The group maintains that they aren't afraid of Governor Abbott's threats to arrest them for fleeing the state to break a quorum and avoid voting on Republicans ' election legislation.

Jail those POS and throw away the keys!
Another example of conservatives’ contempt for our democratic institutions and the right to vote.
What about the Democratic Instutution of the State of Texas Legislature and the rights of the people who voted for them to represent them. If YOU believe in the Mob rule of Democracy, then far more people in Texas want this law than don't. By walking out to prevent what the people want, they are fomenting insurrection against an established government.

I thought you guys were all about holding insurrectionists accountable.

Haha. Then there have been several "insurrections" in Texas. Why haven't any of the previous "insurrectionist" been arrested for their "insurrection"?

Why don't you ask the people who were in charge then? Just because they lacked the courage doesn' mean it should not be done now.

The very fact that these cowards actually left the state rather than just sit at home tells Me that they understand that they can be arrested and forced back into legislative chambers.

If I was governor, I would swear out bench warrants against them.

They have committed no crime.

It's amazing how many people understand absolutely nothing about the issues, and yet are perfectly content to spout off from their ignorance.

No one's talking about a criminal arrest, however much Purge might personally think they deserve it morally. You would know that if you had bothered to read his post before rushing to have an opinion.

LOL, a non violent protest is not an example of an insurrection which on Jan 6th last was an insurrection and likely an example of treason, if the conspiracy among the Proud Boys holds water.

Every act of civil disobedience is now an 'insurrection' according to the Neo-GOP's new hand book.

The Civil Rights Movement? The MLK Insurrection.
The Anti War Movement? The Hippie Insurrection.

They should be arrested for the awful crime of butchering "We shall overcome". What a bunch of low life cockroaches. Democracy is living in a country with different ideas and compromises. Some you win, some you lose. These Democrats are immature bratty children.

If you were honestly concerned about voter participation (which you obviously aren't), why wouldn't you focus on the roughly 1/2 of total voters who don't show up at all, and sway them to your side?

You said "voter participation" with no qualifier....I pointed out potential voters who haven't "participated", which fall under that umbrella, and asked a legit question about them....A question isn't an argument
The bolded isn't an assertion about me that is not supported by my reply? Hence the strawman.
As to it being a legit question. What gives you the idea that caring about getting out the vote and caring about laws that make voter participation harder are mutually exclusive? Its not a legit question. It is in fact a false dichotomy. So that's fallacy number 4
We all know where this badly beaten path goes....Quit acting naive.
You are the one going on that badly beaten path. I'm not naive in fact I know that you are trying to use the particular accusation of me calling racism so you don't have to argue about the actual premise I presented.
Heritage is as "rightwing" (sic) as are the Bushes....As in marginally, if that much.....They're as shitty a source for anything "rightwing" (sic) as CATO and the Chamber of Commerce have become...In short, they're hacks for The State.
In this case, the Heritage Foundation offers names, types of cases, links to the actual court cases in some cases, the type of fraud, some of these are easily verifiable. Man pleads guilty to illegal vote for Trump, blames "stupid mistake" on "too much propaganda" https://eu.hometownlife.com/story/n...uilty-voting-fraud-misdemeanor/4232296001/All it took was me typing in the name.

So let's examine what you have offered to support your assertion that the source is unreliable... OH right, you didn't offer any.

Send Marshalls out to arrest their puckered asses, throw them in jail and impeach them all.

Let's arr4est the Republicans and impeach their fascist' asses.

Ah, that leftist commitment to freedom and democracy. Really warms the heart.

In other news, thank you for exposing the hypocrisy and fakery of your "outrage".

The Democratic Party is all in on the "Jim Crow Lie". Smearing election reform with 100 year old laws that SPECIFICALLY TARGETED BLACK PEOPLE is a complete deception. But that's straight out of the Democrats playbook: Reach back into history, grab a handful of Racism and smear it all over modern day Republicans.

Republicans are the ones spouting lies. They even admitted they cannot find any fraud in the election. Republicans are the ones who are fascists and assaulting democracy.

Says the fascist bitch who said Republicans should be arrested just because she doesn't like them.

This ^^^ goes way beyond authoritarianism, it is clearly fascism on the make. Way beyond Nixon's Enemy List, and Trump's issue to have his loyal followers commit battery against those who protest at his rallies.
um it was voted on…seems pretty democratic to me. You obviously don’t know the meaning of the words you are using
Mob rule, isn't that the BIG LIE used by your side of the aisle? A republic which seeks to become the single party in the US, isn't keeping in line with democracy when they suppress the vote of minorities.

A fact which might surprise you, those black men, women and children who you are trying to take away their vote (and don't pretend this is not the GOP's Plan) are descendent of slaves who came here well before you or me. Of course that suggest the fact that you are familiar with the history of the United States, two centuries before we became the United States.

The only people that have suppressed the votes of minorities in this country is the Dem party.

Mob rule is the Dems fire bombing court houses, looting, rioting, burning churches, breaking into the Dept of Tres etc.

Can you show me where in any law being proposed that the right to vote is being taken away from anyone...anyone?

The Governor of Texas can lawfully arrest the Democrat brats when they return.
Post the law, and consider this one:

To wit:

Sec. 20.04. AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly abducts another person with the intent to:

(6) interfere with the performance of any governmental or political function.
arresting someone with a lawful warrant is not kidnapping. Geez.
