Texas House votes to ARREST runaway Democrats for blocking voting rights bill: State Dems sing outside the Capitol and insist they are willing to go t

The same threat was made against Republicans who fled Oregon a few years ago to block climate legislation. Nobody was arrested there. I doubt anyone will be arrested in Texas.
if arrested they wont be taken to jail . they will be held at the Capital Building of Texas until they vote . Abbott isnt playing around .
...after a body cavity search.
Oh, I bet you'd like that.

They deserve whatever happens to them. They're trash and useless vermin.

The Governor of Texas can lawfully arrest the Democrat brats when they return.
Post the law, and consider this one:

To wit:

Sec. 20.04. AGGRAVATED KIDNAPPING. (a) A person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly abducts another person with the intent to:

(6) interfere with the performance of any governmental or political function.
arresting someone with a lawful warrant is not kidnapping. Geez.

The warrant is only good in Texas.

if there is an arrest warrant for you in a state and you flee to another state you can be arrested and extricated back.

with that said, at some point i expect these folks are planning on coming home. If not, I am sure there might be a procedure to remove them from office for not doing their jobs

I don't think failing to show up for a quorum call is an extraditable offense.

I think it's a show. They would better serve the Texas Democrats by funding voter education and new voting procedure workshops to combat the new laws at the voting booths.

Oh I 100 percent agree that the Dems are doing nothing but a show...and I do hope they are arrested for it.

Also, notice the pic of the fugitives flying? How come not one of them had a mask on? Interesting how Dems get to live by another set of rules for themselves.

If the Dems want to draft legislation and propose a bill dealing with funding for "voter education" and "workshops on voting" - propose the bill.

They will negotiate their return through a third party.

The Dems should fund it themselves.

Republicans in the Texas State House voted 76-4 on Tuesday to arrest the runaway Democrats who fled to Washington D.C. to break the quorum and block the passage of Governor Greg Abbott's voting rights bills.

'Members, a sergeant-at-arms and any officer appointed by him are directed to send for all absentees whose attendance is not excused for the purpose of securing and maintaining their attendance under warrant of arrest if necessary,' Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan announced from the State House floor.

Texas House rules allow the sergeant-at-arms to arrest members who are not present at the Capitol for a vote – and the show of disapproval Tuesday could result in the lawmakers' arrest when they land back in the Lone Star State.

The Tuesday, however, vote doesn't hold much weight as long as the Democrats remain in Washington since by crossing state lines they have escaped jurisdiction of Texas law enforcement.

The group maintains that they aren't afraid of Governor Abbott's threats to arrest them for fleeing the state to break a quorum and avoid voting on Republicans ' election legislation.

Jail those POS and throw away the keys!
Another example of conservatives’ contempt for our democratic institutions and the right to vote.
What about the Democratic Instutution of the State of Texas Legislature and the rights of the people who voted for them to represent them. If YOU believe in the Mob rule of Democracy, then far more people in Texas want this law than don't. By walking out to prevent what the people want, they are fomenting insurrection against an established government.

I thought you guys were all about holding insurrectionists accountable.
LOL, a non violent protest is not an example of an insurrection which on Jan 6th last was an insurrection and likely an example of treason, if the conspiracy among the Proud Boys holds water.
Every act of civil disobedience is now an 'insurrection' according to the Neo-GOP's new hand book.

The Civil Rights Movement? The MLK Insurrection.
The Anti War Movement? The Hippie Insurrection.
Glad to see you agree that the Jan 6th was just an act of civil disobedience.

However, given the exact definition of "Insurrection", what the Democrats in Texas did was exactly that.

It is the purpose, motivation, and outcome of the act that determines the definition of insurrection. They were elected to conduct the peoples business. When they left, they broke oath and interfered with the Consitutionally mandated business of the Texas Congress.

Haha. Then there have been several "insurrections" in Texas. Why haven't any of the previous "insurrectionist" been arrested for their "insurrection"?
Why don't you ask the people who were in charge then? Just because they lacked the courage doesn' mean it should not be done now.

The very fact that these cowards actually left the state rather than just sit at home tells Me that they understand that they can be arrested and forced back into legislative chambers.

If I was governor, I would swear out bench warrants against them.

SOP. Not an insurrection.
Insurrection.

It fits the definition precisely.

ok....they are smart to hire a lawyer

sure, sounds like a plan, something each party should do, and I believe does. I know in my state there are always political ads and flyers and crap around election time on voting laws etc. It's really not that complicated...but hey...the left needs a distraction to take away from the blunders of their leadership in Washington

Well it was a violent act of civil disobedience, and they were there to stop Congress from validating the EC count, an essential point in the once traditional non violent transfer of power we use to hold almost sacred in this country. Nothing at all like what the Texas Democrats are pulling. The Texas Dems have called on no mob for action against the Neo-GOP. They are just denying them a quorum.

There was nothing violent about it with the exception of how the Capitol Police shot and killed an innocent American exercising her right to protest.

Democrats are experts at making martyrs out of criminals.

Republicans never thought there was any problem with 'election security' until they started losing.

After 4 years of failing (failed coup attempt, 2 failed Impeachments, failed attempts to set Trump up....) and getting their asses handed to them...and after nominating a proven criminal, CCP/Russia-bought, dementia-ravaged white racist and appointing Kamala 'knees' Harris as his VP, Democrats did everything they could to cheat and steal the election in 2020.

Everyone should have known, as I did, that when the Democrats declared they were pushing for mail-in ballots the election was already over. As the Democrats successfully proved, the mail-In ballot system is the most corrupt in the entire world, which is why almost every other nation has OUTLAWED its use...and why several nations outlawed it after our election!

Democrats used to claim that election fraud did not exist....until so much fraud was exposed that they changed their argument to 'NOT ENOUGH election fraud exists'.

Thank you for not disappointing me by sticking to the Dem tactic of accusing others of being who THEY are and of doing what THEY have been caught doing and are still doing.
Almost every nation as outlawed mail-in voting?..wow..somebody tell the states here in the U.S. who have been doing it for years. They apparently didn't get the memo...VOPP: Table 18: States With All-Mail Elections
