I do not doubt that your parents were wonderful Catholic people, Penelope. I am very sorry that the Catholic people have been deceived into believing the Roman Institution was the One true Faith. I was raised in Catholicism and was a member of a very staunch Roman Catholic family. VERY. You'd be shocked to learn how much so - there were many nuns, priest, Dominican and worse that came out of my family and I find it to be a tremendous grief to realize they had no chance of salvation in the Roman Institution.
