That’s the view of New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, now gospel among liberals. It’s true economically but bears no relationship to the political truth of that period. Consider that in December 2008, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a hardcore liberal Democrat, proposed a $165 billion stimulus and said he would be ecstatic if it went to $300 billion. President- elect Obama wanted to go over $1 trillion but was told by House Democrats that it absolutely wouldn’t pass. In exchange for the votes of three Republicans in the Senate he needed for passage, Obama reduced the stimulus to $787 billion, which was still almost five times Rendell’s number and the largest amount that was politically possible.

When Obama took office, the economy was losing about 750,000 jobs a month and heading for another Great Depression. The recession ended (at least for a while) and we now are adding several thousand jobs a month -- anemic growth, but an awful lot better than the alternative. How did that happen? Luck?

It's obvious at this point that he doesn't know how to fix the economy or create jobs...and his health care reform that he did get passed? It doesn't lower costs and will bankrupt the nation within 20 years. He's a bad President because he's an incompetent executive who has surrounded himself with equally incompetent subordinates.

Oldstyle didn't promise to cut the national debt in half in his first term... Obama did.

Instant fix? There is no such thing and I never said there was.

What should be done however is rather obvious. We need to reform entitlements. If we don't they will bankrupt us. We need to shrink the size of the Federal Government. I would suggest doing away with the Dept. of Education completely and doing across the board cuts to all other Federal agencies of 10% this year, 5% next year and 5% the following year. No exceptions...no excuses. I would suggest overhauling our tax code to both simplify it and to remove loopholes. I would suggest a moratorium on new regulations for one year and a comprehensive review of existing regulations looking to eliminate those that create more problems than they solve. I would suggest that we let corporations that have made profits overseas to bring those profits here untaxed if they use that capital to hire workers or upgrade equipment. I would encourage drilling for new oil reserves and I would stop the ongoing "stall" of drilling permits. I would not waste taxpayer money on high speed rail projects that will be a monumental expense down the road. I would do everything that I could to lower the cost of gasoline rather then try to find ways to make it more expensive.

ACORN, really? I fail to see how anyone thinks for a moment that the acorn rep really thought O’Keefe was some kind of pimp in that get-up. I think any non-biased reasonable person can see she was just humoring him.
The fact is O’Keefe is going bankrupt because even rich conservatives can see he’s a joke and not worth donating money too even though they spend so many millions lobbying and he’s gained notoriety from fox news. Bringing up acorn after all this time when it was barely an issue to begin with is really grasping at straws.

His policies failed.

The stimulus failed miserably from its goals. Healthcare was a complete pile of crap. Financial reform does nothing but encourage big banks to get BIGGER and promise unlimited bailouts for the future. 4 years and there is almost nothing that he has accomplished that is good. He got OBL, that's about it. Virtually none of his promises were followed and almost nothing positive has been done. We are in a grater schism politically in this country and infighting has gotten to extreme levels.


The better question might be where he has succeeded? Simply being in office is not enough. What were these grate achievements that can be paraded around to justify the extreme expenditures that we have gone through in the last 3 years? Face it, he is another Bush. You just can't accept that your guy failed so you will hold him up proudly as he extends virtually every bush policy and does things even WORSE.
