Tea Party Groups Suffer Another Huge Defeat

The Tea Party will go down in history as…

To be honest, they were very successful.

Much more so than the John Birch society.

They move the entire GOP far right. They also put their actual candidates into the congress.

They've been successful in turning people off to the American government, destroying decorum and making the debate much more base and vulgar.

Things that were once thought as unthinkable? Are now business as usual. They've exceeded the Dreams of Grover Norquist. So much so he basically is part of the "enough is enough" crowd.

The Tea Party has had no success in the federal government, nor can they have. This is because the Tea Party runs counter to the culture in the federal government. That is why they are viewed as "obstructionists". Everyone just sits around betting when the Tea Party will buckle to big government.

The Tea Party must focus on amending the Constitution through Article V to restrict the federal government by creating amendments to balance the budget and impose term limits. It is only then that the Tea Party can participate in the federal government.

The government shutdown, the sequester, and the fact that congress passed less than 60 bills are all evidence of Tea party success.

As opposed to Obamacare, Benghazi, the NSA, and the IRS?

I don't think so.

Tea Party Groups Suffer Another Huge Defeat -- Are They Toast?

The strong bipartisan House vote on Wednesday for the farm bill was the third major defeat for conservative lobbying groups since the government shutdown, a sign that they're losing their stranglehold on the House Republican majority.

The trio of defeats: The October bill to re-open the shuttered government and avert a catastrophic debt default (with no strings attached), the December budget agreement to raise spending and mitigate automatic sequester cuts and now the farm bill to renew agriculture subsidies and food stamps.

Tea party groups such as the Club For Growth and Heritage Action fought these initiatives every step of the way and threatened to use their scorecards to downgrade lawmakers who voted for them. In October, they lost the battle when Speaker John Boehner put a clean bill on the floor to fund the government and avert default (although most Republicans voted against it). But the budget and farm bill agreements each passed with the support of 70 percent of House Republicans, a more troubling sign for the tea party groups.

Time to throw them over a balcony.

Yes! The only group even trying for fiscal responsibility, they must be done away with. The tolerant left must stand to shut down this group that thinks differently then they. We must keep on the road to total destruction nothing else makes sense.

The Tea Party was not successful with the government shutdown or the sequester. They lost. It amounted to poking a stick at a wild bear.

As for not passing many bills, the government passed over 40,000 new regulations and laws last year. If that is a success, I would hate to see failure.

We have borrowed more than a trillion dollars every year

Annual cost of tax expenditures: $1.2 trillion.

Coincidence?

Tax expenditures have declined slightly, spending and borrowing have gone up and unfunded liabilities are climbing faster than them all. I'll be gone in another 15-20 years and all I can say is I'm sorry to future Americans that I wasn't able to preserve a better country for them, but at least I know I tried.

The Tea Party is an unwitting front group for special interests. The Tea Party candidates go in through the front door and then open the back door for their financial contributors. In that sense they were extremely effective.

Tell US about the 290+ Bills that jackass Reid is sitting on? Tell us about getting RID of the Filibuster and treading on minority voices?

Tell US about the Tyranny YOU applaud?

"Huge defeat" ....the freaking farm bill? The radical left must be desperate for a victory if they think the Tea Party suffered a huge defeat when republicans passed the farm bill. The Tea Party was organized as a grass roots movement to try to get the best conservative candidates elected. The Tea Party is still celebrating it's greatest victory in the last republican landslide. Issues like the Farm Bill aren't even on the radar.

Correct. FAR from it. Perhaps some people need to re-learn WHOM the TEA Party is, and they have NO leader, AND what TEA really means?

And you could be just as easily be accused of being a dupe for the maixist that are destroying this country. This country doesn't need to be completely remade like your mulatto messiah seems to think, but you folks just keep on cheering.

Problematic for them as it is US...the real producers in this country...and WE are pissed.:doubt:

2010 will look like a Sunday in the park compared to the carnage against incumbents this year. Count on it.

The TEA party is people, not Party. We are fed up with "business as usual" and we will show up at the polls and vote our conscience! We don't follow bloviating rabble rousers of either Political Party. We are not intimidated by Black Panthers threatening us at the Polls! We are black, white, brown, yellow, and all of them mixed! We are Americans! And be WARNED!! We are not going away!!

Absolutely, thanks for noticing.

You have been seeing failure for 7 years and especially the last 5 how much more do you need to see?
