The city receives a lot of money from the Federal Government. And that is the real representation. How the money is spent is another issue.

The Senate represents the states, not the population.
Both California and Wyoming are equally states and receive equal representation in the Senate.
The House is the body that represents the population levels, which is why California has many more seats than Wyoming.
This is grade school civics.

There is no case for DC statehood, DC was designed by the founders as the seat of the federal government, MD and Virginia gave up land for it. The land VA surrendered was returned. If anything happens, the remainder should be returned to MD.

Based on the thread title alone, I would like to point out that no states have any representation. 6000 page bills that nobody knows what is in them. Are we being represented?

Why? Wouldn't it be better to greatly increase the sovereignty of the States and make the US what it intended to be - the Union of sovereign States with small federal government?

If the District of Columbia is made a state, you can expect Eastern Kentucky and Southern North Dakota to be admitted once the GOP gets in, in order to maintain the balance.

There's no "balance" argument, it's a matter of simple taxation w/o representation.

The people you're talking about already have this.

The citizens of DC do not.

Then they can MOVE. No one is forcing them to stay, it requires an amendment to the Constitution to make DC a State.
