Zone1 Tax the Rich! Make them Pay their Fair Share!

You didn't say Social Security exclusively, you talked about tax burden.

It was said in the OP: "In my view, each and every citizens "tax burden" should initially be the same dollar amount. Thereafter, there should be taxes based on usage. For example, if you have a trucking company with 200 trucks running up and down the road every day."

Social Security is part of the tax burden along with:
  • Federal Income Tax Rate
  • State Income Tax rates
  • Property Tax (Land)
  • Property Tax (Non-land)
  • Sales Tax
  • Embedded Taxes (local, state, federal)

Well, he didn't say SS but you're 100% right, its part of the tax burden insofar as you cannot opt out.

You can opt out.

I can think of at least two different ways.

(Neither are realistic for most people, but they do exist.)

When you make less than 150,000 a year (give or take), every paycheck you get has SS taxes taken out of them. When you make more than 150,000 a year (give or take) your paycheck no longer has SS taxes taken out of them.

If your "reasoning" is that "we all pay the same" you'd be for taxing the rich for every dollar they make just like we do to the poor, right?

Change my mind.
Sure, and SS benefits need to climb to match the taxes paid by the wealthy. What you want is for the wealthy to just pay more and not get any more benefits.

I'd be thrilled with them getting more benefits.

There you go again...lying your ass off.

They Payback...what? Are you illiterate?

Stupid Stain. If you made $176K every year for 35 years you can collect the MAX at age 70. After Paying in 12.2% of your income.

If you made $100M every year and paid in more (you ignorant OX) you still only get the MAX payout at age 70 (~$5K per mo.). Retire earlier (age 67?) Get about $4K/mo.

Those are the contactual terms as of now. You can chirp all you want. Holler like a tree baboon.

Really? I was unaware one could refuse to pay SS taxes.

I didn't say refuse to pay, I said opt out. You opt out by selecting the method of deriving income.

Option #1: Don't derive income from wages or salaries. Income from investments are not subject to SS Tax.

Option #2: Move to a state or locality that opted out of SS in the 1950's and take a public sector job. You don't pay SS Tax, but then you aren't eligible for SS benefits based on such work. (NOTE: They were allowed to opt out only by having a replacement system, which you then pay into, but it's not the Federal SS program.)

As I said, not practical for the vast majority of the population, but they do exist.

If you payout $1million per month it defeats the purpose paying more in dummy?

The maximum Social Security retirement benefit in 2025 is $5,108 per month for individuals who delay claiming benefits until age 70.
This maximum is available only to those who have earned the maximum taxable amount—$176,100 in 2025—for at least 35 years of their career.

Everyone should be treated the same under the tax code. That is the point.

If they pay in more they either get a bigger payout or it is simply an additional TAX applied.

Change the "contract". Alert Congress.

Everyone should be treated the same under the tax code. I'm unsure why this is such a difficult concept for you to wrap your head around.

I’d be for a flat tax rate as long as there was absolutely zero tolerance for any loopholes of any kind whatsoever

Rich people do not have the right to hire accounts to find ways to get them out of paying taxes
