Surrounded by financial experts? You have to be blind to not realize that Trump is not surrounded by anyone that is not a loyalist. If they are not loyalists, they are thrown out and that leaves very few experts, given that experts that know are against Trump and Trump will not pay attention to them. In fact, Trump believes he knows it all and never listens to anyone. That is a fact.
Look at all the people that he hired in his first administration that he let go exclusively because they did not see things as he did.

Just listen to Trump talk about "he knows more than anyone". Do you honestly think that he believes that there are any people that know more than him?
He has proven to be a failure in everything else other than real estate. Show me one thing that he ever succeeded at, other than real estate. You think that knowledge qualifies him to know about tariffs?

Tariffs are by their nature trial balloons. They are imposed in the hope that they will cause American consumers (both businesses and the consuming public) to ALTER their buying practices in reaction to the tariffs, choosing domestic suppliers instead of off-shore suppliers. Alternatively, the foreign sellers could decide to absorb some or all of the tariffs in order not to lose market share. The worst case - always projected by the Leftist Press - would be for the tariffs to be imposed and the American consumers take the brunt of it through higher prices.
But that has a good side to it as well, as the tariffs themselves flow into the public fisc.
People who look at a tariff prospectively or on Day One and predict the results are generally not honest. They are trying to create a picture that may or may not be real. Nobody knows until things play out for a while.
I blush to admit I just bought a Chinese bicycle, to avoid the price increase. The "American" bike that I considered was assembled here from Chinese components.

I definitely agree that Biden got it wrong on Immigration, but I continue to state that Trump is going to the extreme and any extreme is bad. I have stated over and over and over again that some of the things that Trump is trying to change, need to be changed, but he is incompetent and his changes will create more problems than the ones he is solving.
