Laws on tougher penalties for crack were created by black law makers, because they were tired of black people being destroyed by drugs.
White people didn't do that. Black people, trying to stop the destruction of black people by drug, made those penalties tougher.
White lawmakers signed onto the disparity, and the Prison-Industrial complex was all for it.
We lock up people who need treatment, that's the problem here. Just because someone got it wrong 40 years ago, because they bought into the hype about Crack, doesn't mean we keep doing it.
Unless you are a Republican, where you keep following bad ideas no matter what.
