We're not going to cut our way to jobs and to prosperity.

Wake up MORANS!!!

Actually it's morons, but I digress. You're RIGHT MARC.. IT's NOT sufficient to just get govt spending under control.. We need to encourage capital to come BACK to America. We need to break the stalemate on public education. We need to quit whining about when we made basketballs and start directing our kids into higher skilled jobs. There are now 30 Bill potential basketball makers in the world. WE need to be doing something else for a living.

The OLD jobs ain't coming back. We need to be pushing biotech, nanotech, materials research, robotics, artificial intelligience and the like. Don't HAVE to be a scholar to find a GOOD-PAYING job in those new industries that don't exist yet.

You don't get there moron by villifying the rich and growing the f'in govt.

Cut the infantile "green jobs" view of what's happening, get some business friendly folks back in charge and let's get on with it.. Before we collapse..

Warren Buffett is as dangerous to this Republic as Georgie-Boi Soros.

They want more taxes? What's stopping them from giving the Gubmint more?

Open up that wallet and start dishing it out.

Just stop trying to steal it from the rest of us.

Unless you're one of the super rich, he wasn't talking to you...dumbfuck...

So not looting everything thye own is "coddling" them?

Nazis felt the same way about Jews.

The rabid right should discontinue the pablum about "punishing success" and get real with the facts about breaking the backs of the American workers.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/15/opinion/stop-coddling-the-super-rich.html

The vast majority of the American people aren't with that RW talking point. Just about every poll bares that out.

The far right is about to damage the Republican party, once again.

Oh hey! And look at what I just found...

Evergreen Solar files for bankruptcy, plans asset sale - BostonHerald.com

Let's hear it for Obama's Green Jobs! There's 800 unsaved or lost jobs promised by the clean and articulate one.

The goal is neo-feudalism. Right now we have a fight between Ze Party und Ze Plutocrats as to who's going to be the new nobility.

The tea party is trying to shove both of them off a cliff and preserve what our founders have made.

So it's your job to decide what is and isn't an acceptable way for them to earn their money and decide what taxes are "fair" based on that? How do you get your head through doorways?
No, just a comment. Earned income is income you get from working, not drawing interest, dividends, etc. Most of the income from the super rich is unearned income. It's income they derive from being rich.
No it's not, it is income derived from deploying their capital. That is what we do in a capitalist society. Nobody is stopping anyone from investing their own capital. You can start with as little as $10.00
Sure you can start building your fortune with ten bucks, but your chances of success are oh so much greater if you have real money. You can hire investment managers to put you in the best investments and tax accountants to insure you pay rock bottom taxes. If you have at least $10,000, you can buy bonds that are free of all taxes both state and local. If your're an investment manager, you can classify your multimillion-dollar salary as carried interest and pay a 15% tax. Even better, you can buy into a business partnership and write off product development costs, ship all job creating manufacturing overseas, and sell the product through a tax haven and escape all taxes on profits.

The old saying it takes money to make money was never truer than in today's environment.

Do I think it's a direct conspiracy? Large scale? Shit no. It's the natural direction of this type of class warfare shit. A de-evolution back to Medieval thinking. But then why am I surprised since we're sinking into a second dark age.

Besides what the other poster said about Spain's experience, it's a childish view of the absolute EMERGENCY we have in the job market. Even if it DID prime an industry, that would only amount to about 3 or 4% of the total US job market. It's a political move made on bad science and bad economics. Just because it take 3 times as much manpower to maintain a windfield doesn't make it good for jobs. You could take the shovels out of "shovel-ready" and hand out spoons (thanx ShackledNation) and create TONS of jobs.

Bullshit. You can buy tax free bonds in a mutual fund with $100.00. Also, study after study shows that passive investing outperforms active investing so the retail investor can easily get the same or better returns than "the rich" people who hire investment managers just by buying low cost index funds. If someone is too stupid to take advantage of all that capitalism and the tax code offers, who is to blame?

PS- I do agree that we need tax reform for hedge fund managers.

That's exactly what we're going to do. That is, unless the voters stupidly reelect Democrats.

There is a single line on that tax form of his that states clearly you can overpay your taxes. If he's not paying enough, he can stop taking all the deductions and pay as much more as he wants.

He has no right to say anyone else must do the same.

Listen NAZI, the last time I checked we live in FREE COUNTRY where EVERY. SINGLE. INDIVIDUAL has the right to free speech.

That means he's FREE to say whatever he wants.

Why do you hate America...Nazi?

Why do you think it's ok to make a mockery of the holocaust for your stupid partisan point scoring?

Shame on you, racist.

I think Marc makes some sense, I mean really, how long have we had the Bush tax cuts? and with the rich keeping more money now under this recession, where are the jobs? Will it really get worse if they raise taxes or is there alot of fear mongering going on....I see fear mongering on both sides. Meanwhile these campaigns are going to rake in millions if not billions and is this money going to be used to help or just to get either party elected and given to media outlets for commercials or china for buttons and lapel pins? while most of the campaign staffs work as volunteers. I agree with raising taxes as long as they use the revenue to decrease the deficit and create a surplus. I just hear the ridiculous arguments about if the rich want to pay more they can just give it to the IRS, really? the stupidity on both sides is driving me crazy. I mean Obama is still talking about construction jobs.....did he really create the 2 million jobs he said he would with that stimulas for shovel ready projects? I keep hearing both sides say the same old crap they have always said, meanwhile things are not getting any better. but do not raise taxes on the rich, just raise taxes on gas and food and cigarettes....just getting sick of all the garbage I hear and I am amazed how many gullible people are out there that buy it all from both sides.

Since 1992, the I.R.S. has compiled data from the returns of the 400 Americans reporting the largest income. In 1992, the top 400 had aggregate taxable income of $16.9 billion and paid federal taxes of 29.2 percent on that sum. In 2008, the aggregate income of the highest 400 had soared to $90.9 billion — a staggering $227.4 million on average — but the rate paid had fallen to 21.5 percent.

How's that been working out for the nation?

Is this nation better off than we were in '92?

If one thing stands out today among the right wing, it is the word 'tax' has changed meaning and now represents something akin to jumping off a cliff. All republican robots raised their hand NO to a tax increase even with massive spending cuts. The power of 'right wing big money think tank propaganda' is just incredible. Puppets on the right don't even need the string any longer.

"The highest period of growth in U.S. history (1933-1973) also saw its highest tax rates on the rich: 70 to 91 percent." Tax cuts spur economic growth

Odd, I'm pretty sure you had a Nazi avatar at one point.

Wouldn't that make you a hypocrite? let me check........Why yes it would.
