Good subject matter, but you seem to miss one of Adam Smith's main points--free market capitalism can function only within a moral and ethical society.

The US system, for the most part, has been void of moral and ethical leadership for decades. What we have here is crony capitalism and a type of fascist system.

I have 2 friends who fly for Spirit, and that outfit has been poorly managed from the very start. Failure and bankruptcy have been a long time coming. Don't blame capitalism for its failure, blame lousy humans in management positions.

I think the first modern example of the federal government 'bailing out' corporations was with Chrysler back decades ago. Not sure, but I think Chrysler did pay it back. Not sure of all the other ones since.

Predatory capitalism, crony capitalism, fascism. Many labels apply.

The larger point is that whatever name you want to use, such practices ARE NOT free market capitalism.
