Starship can be a space station or part of it. Starship can be a lunar base or part of it. There is more work to be done of course. Starship has a massive amount of interior space. The Space Launch system has a capsule only.

If we want to know more about the universe, the biggest bang for our buck isn't in manned spaceflight. It's horrendously expensive let alone dangerous. Manned spaceflight eats up a ton of money we could be using to advanced science, but it's wasted on vanity projects.
