Real life scenario:
Scientists use science to develop very large, very expensive computing machines that can take a punched card, do some calculations and print out information. The world is amazed and some of the brightest minds at the time state that the country could maybe make use of 5 of those computers.
Fast forward a few decades and we see that someone has figured out how to make those large, expensive computing machines not only smaller and faster, but much cheaper. There are billions of them all over the place, including in places where NO ONE around when they were developed could imagine.
Question: was science involved in shrinking computers, making them faster and cheaper? Absolutely. So yes, Musk will continue using science, developing new science and making getting goods into orbit cheaper, safer and easier.
