SpaceX Starship reaches for the stars. Complete success

Marener is upset that Trump is making America great again, and undoing the horrible policies that made a majority of Americans worse off, and left the world in chaos.

He's so upset that he can't think, he attacks anything, no matter how completely irrational it is...well that's one theory, the other is he is just completely out of his league

Don't forget he also probably tucks and pees sitting down.

Trump goes in a diaper but you’re okay with that. He’s still your daddy.

Science was used, but it wasn't created. There's a difference.

NASA isn't in the business of making consumer electronics. They're in the business of exploring the universe. We've learned nothing about the universe from any of the work done by Musk.
Not yet, but once it becomes easier, safer and cheaper to get things into orbit, advances will follow, ultimately leading to better telescopes, better propulsion and much greater understanding. Again, you're deliberately limiting your vision, essentially complaining that cars will never be useful because the guy inventing the materials used in road and tire construction that allow for cars to move safely at high speeds isn't doing the "real" science that produced the ICE.

And it's all for one reason, and one reason alone. Musk is tied to Orange Man, and Orange Man Bad means anything and anyone in his orbit is also Bad. Without that, Musk would just be another rich dreamer laying the groundwork for future advances.

Launch costs are a fraction of the costs of NASAs premiere missions. James Webb was launched on an Ariene 5. Curiosity is the size of a small car and made it all the way to Mars after launching from a lowly but highly reliable Atlas V.

The problem isn't that launch systems are too expensive to do science. The problem is that too much money from NASA is siphoned off to support low value manned space exploration.

I think manned space exploration is a waste of money, and Starship is a good example of that.

That's all well and good, but we also need to expand our living space beyond earth or face extinction as a species. It is inevitable that something very bad will happen to the planet. Either natural warming cycles will unleash dormant diseases that wipe us out, or an asteroid will hit and destroy everything but cockroaches, or Yellowstone erupts and buries everyone under 50 feet of ash. Heck, an ice age could kill everyone.

The point is, unless we spread out at least through the solar system, we're all gone. So, there is a need for manned space exploration too, just not everywhere we want to explore.

No, we don't. We are perfectly designed to live on Earth. No other planet will ever serve all our needs. You watch too many movies.

That's why we need technological advances, a role in which Musk is playing by reducing the cost to get material into orbit and beyond. You're arguing like an accountant in 1943, saying that we'll never need computers because we're perfectly capable of doing calculations with a pencil and paper.

Technological advances won't make Mars capable of supporting humans independently let alone any of the other worse options.

It certainly isn't going to happen because of Musk.

All Moroner cares is that Bad Orange Man supports manned space exploration so it has to be bad.

He's a ******* luddite.

And Steve Jobs played no role in turning cell phones into hand-held computers with more computing power than the space shuttle had. Bill Gates played no role in making desktop computers easy enough to use that billions are on desks in use every day. Face it, your complaint comes down to Orange Man Bad, nothing more.

You guys constantly ***** about wasteful government spending. Add up all the costs of manned space flight and tell me what we got out of it.

How did those balls taste this morning?

You may be right. Yet manned missions give us imagination. Lower cost projects will help us explore the solar system at some point. Our robotic missions though have also had setbacks and delayed for technical problems and cost overruns. The Chinese will be hearty competitors.

Manned Space Exploration taps into the human need to see what's on the other side of the hill/ocean/whatever. Not just send probes to do it.

They all made useful products with a market appeal.

That doesn't mean they can transmute iron into gold.

The idea that we need to colonize Mars because we are going to **** up Earth is misguided, wasteful and irrational, much like the Starship program.

So we are doing it just to make you feel better? Grow up.
