Washington Post Admits NATO Wants to Prolong War in Ukraine

"In an article about the potential for a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, the Washington Post admits that some within NATO want to prolong the war for as long as possible.

"The admission is contained in a piece titled ‘NATO says Ukraine to decide on peace deal with Russia — within limits’.

“Even a Ukrainian vow not to join NATO — a concession that Zelensky has floated publicly — could be a concern to some neighbors. That leads to an awkward reality: For some in NATO, it’s better for the Ukrainians to keep fighting, and dying, than to achieve a peace that comes too early or at too high a cost to Kyiv and the rest of Europe,” states the article.

“There is an unfortunate dilemma. The problem is that if it ends now, there is a kind of time for Russia to regroup, and it will restart, under this or another pretext.”"

There's little doubt that Russia is depending on the Ukraine to capitulate, but the US is putting tremendous pressue on the Ukraine and Zelensky to continue.

There is a huge amount at stake for both America and Russia now and depending on a vision of success for both sides, Zelensky might be ignored?

Does the tone of negotiations indicate whether America or Russia want to end it?

If Russia withdraws to the Donbass region, how would the war continue when the Ukrainian people will be the target of Zelensky's faction?

Russia would be in a position to wage war from the Donbass region, with few vulnerable assets there, while Zelensky would be subject to continual defensive bombardment.

Of course they want war. Just this morning Biden authorized another 100million dollar for weapons for the Ukraine. The military industrial complex is making a mint so ree their share holders. NATO loves it because it brought the US back into the fold and they are taking full advantage. NATO is having the US bear the brunt of the cost and manpower as our supposed NATO allies just sit back and watch

It looks like the Ruskies want the war in Ukraine more than NATO.

I'm guessing that Putin was waiting for NATO to fall apart, and because of Trump, it damn near did, which is why Putin invaded after the NATO alliance started to show signs of falling apart when Trump tried to pull us out of it.

You seem to be completely ignoring the reason why America is willing to spend as much as necessary to win the war against Russia.

Not at all unlike any of America's wars in which it was willing to spend huge amounts of money.

The simple answer for this one is that if America doesn't win then Russia and China does. That's the main reason why this war is risking a nuclear conflict!

Russia will, to ensure they don't lose!
Will America?
Could the answer tell us something about both sides' resolve? America can accept a loss and try again perhaps. Maybe in Finland?

You can chose to be a gullible fool if you want. Obviously people in NATO and Biden administration are no saints either. Some are becoming rich since their stocks are up alot from when the invasion started.
So what, it's the American way.

The is no reason the US should be bearing the majority of the load. This is a European problem not an American one. Let the other NATO countries bear the load and give the American taxpayers a break

Might wanna check up on your "facts", as there are lots of countries other than the USA that have been sending military aid to Ukraine.

Many countries other than the US (and quite a few that are in NATO), have been sending weapons and military aid to them.

The US has sent around 350 million. European countries have sent around 520 million. The EU currently is sending the most aid to Ukraine, not the US. See the links in post 12.

Trump was using the diplomatic big hammer. He told NATO either you live up to your treaty obligations or we won't defend you anymore. NATO got the message and started spending more money on its defense. Things are bad now, if Trump hadn't lowered the boom, they would be far worse.

Actually, Trump wanted to pull the US out of NATO all together. Might wanna pay better attention to things. Bolton has said that if Trump had been reelected, Trump would have pulled the US out.

So with all that from other NATO countries contributing Ukraine does not need American help or troops
