This is great news. They called the election after failing to get their budget through. Now they have an overall majority and dont need the support of anyone.
The riight wing loons won a dozen seats out of 230 and will now just provide comedy relief. AT least they arent whining that they were robbed.

No doubt the Portugues economy will now skyrocket, Venezuela without oil!

Young, cute goats on every corner - a Paki dream to be sure.

Whichever country in Europe spends enough to bankrupt their economies wins!!

One of the key tenets of SOCIALISM is that the Sovereign must OWN the means of production, which is to say, the mines, oil fields, farms, manufacturing facilities, and so on. In Venezuela, they actually went to socialism, which wrecked the economy, largely because of endemic corruption.

In civilized countries the Sovereign cannot simply TAKE things that belong to private citizens (or corporate entities). The Sovereign must either pay a fair value for them or they remain in private hands.

It is not clear from this article whether the "socialism" in Portugal would be of the Scandinavian variety (not actual socialism), or it will be socialism per se. One hopes that the former is the case.

One thing that history makes clear is that once Socialists take over, they do what is necessary to retain power "forever." This is one of the many reasons why socialism is evil. More fundamentally, taking money from productive people and passing it out to non-productive people is THEFT, hence, evil.

Lots of experts on the Portugal experience on here. Portugal is a lovely place and the people are very friendly. Its worth noting that the US voted recently to elect a not too different party to the one in Portugal.
And in doing so rejected your nutty libertarian politics.

The only nut among us is one who doesn't know the difference between a libertarian and a conservative. There are just as many left-leaning libertarians as there are right.

Libertarians are generally living in loud cukoo land.
