If you look at the dark blue states, democrat policies, while well intentioned, have pretty much always backfired and made things worse for those they were trying to help and democrats expect brownie points for trying, even though they made things worse. The far right has attempted to make socialism a bad word , it is not. Some of our nation's very best legislation has been in creating socialistic plans to help all Americans. In the cut-throat capitalistic system there are always winners and losers. Social legislation helps protect the most vulnerable. I can't imagine America without Workman comp. , Medicare and social security. The death rate would be much higher and the homeless rate would be out of sight.
