Anytime government spends money, they call it socialism. Socialism is a system that tries to make everybody equal by government taking and spending. This is not that situation. Nobody is trying to make a floor sweeper more equal to an engineer.

We are talking about government handouts here. That is what the stimulus is about. Call it socialism or whatever you like. Regardless, it is the conservative philosophy to oppose them. Either you think government should not be handing our money or you do. If you take the funds when you are philosophically opposed to government handouts than you are being a hypocrite. But of course Ann Rand went on welfare so whenever government money is going to conservatives, they tend to junk their philosophy rather quickly.

I don't know where you got your conservative philosophy from. Conservatives are not against the government helping out people in need, we are against government goodies for people that can take care of themselves and opt to live off the government; those who take advantage of the system.

Are there some that are against all government money spent? Yes there are, but few and far between. The Presidents idea was to only give money to single people that make less than 75K a year, or a couple making less than 150K a year. I don't know if that was honored in this bill, but we will see when it's all worked out.
