So while Russia has apparently not used this class of missile strike before in this war the recent move by the US to permit longer range strikes has opened a new avenue of counter attack for Russia.

Surely the message from the US permitting this new activity came with warnings that this might happen no?

We keep hearing how Russia is basically defeated and ready to keel over. Not seeing that yet....just not seeing that.

He should be thankful the warheads were not armed and only resulted in a kinetic pounding.

Yeah this doesn't add up....so supposedly according to board experts here Russia's counter attack was just a poof in the box....nothing, nada....just a big firecracker with a lucky throw.

But Zalensky is screaming holy hell over this thing so who is right? If it was nothing what's the issue? Is it a ploy for more money?

What gives?

It was more of a "fuck around and find out" type of thing.

Ok....so I just had a discussion with a board guy here that insisted that the Oreshnik is a 60 year old relic of the Cold war era and is nothing more than
Wind up elastic band balsa toy.

You tube seems to make more of it.
New weapon, first use... unstoppable ..

Naysayers say....old weapon, already used....we can easily shoot it down.

Wait, Russia has been bombing inside of Ukraine all along, and you're pissed that they are now bombing back?

This is a good one Jo. Putin might be lying?

In any case, he's limiting its use to revenge, as noted.

The Russian military is selecting targets for potential Oreshnik strikes, Putin warned. The system could be used in retaliation against the “Kiev regime” if Ukrainian attacks against Russia using Western-provided long-range missiles and data continue, he added.

No....not at all .... Certainly they have a right to fight back. I'm aiming at de-escalation and wondering how this new element ( which I am being told is not new at all and maybe that's correct) is helping anything. And now they're talking about Ukraine drafting younger men to increase the size of their army?? This is insane...

Put yourself in Ukraine's shoes. You country has been invaded. You gonna fight back or "deescalate"?

Alright....I mean at some point you have to begin looking for a different path to the solution. That would have happened 18 months ago without the constant input of war money being flushed away to oblivion on the corpses of the very same people we are claiming to help. What's the end game here?

It depends. Mexicans and Georgians (as well as many other nations) decided that peace (even with some territorial losses) is better than a war with no chances to win.

Janes says difficult but not impossible to shoot down.
