Also I don't think that you understand the chart you linked. Those were not seperate cut based on age, those were action that incremented the change in age grandfathering and incrementing specific age groups. Not sepeate actions, all resulted from the Social Security Act passed in 1983.

Oh, and Trump said he want's to eliminate income taxes on Social Security. Income taxes on Social Security go back to the SSA to help fund current benefits. Eliminating the income tax SS Benefits will REDUCE revenue to the SSA, and accelerate the Trust Fund be exhausted. (Now whether taxing SS benefits should or shouldn't be taxes is a valid discussion, but from an financial standpoint there is no arguing that reliminating the tax now, mean the Trust Fund is exhausted earlier.)

I clearly pointed out that raising the retirement age is a cut in benefits for near/future retirees.

Ususally the "grandfather" age was about 50 in previous years when raising the age was discussed. IIRC the new budget proposal raises the grandfather age to 59.

Of course there is fraud in Social Security benefits. You will find most of in Social Security DISABILITY Insurance.

There are issolated cases of fraud in Supplemental Security Insurance (Social Security Retirement) but they are rare. (And of course should be found and the perpetrators punished to the greatest extent the law allows.)

That has nothing to do with cutting benefits by raising the retirement age.

Musk has little experience of running a national payments system like the Treasury dept. I work on large IT systems every day, old systems are built very different to the systems we build today... Archiving old system data is not done for numerous reasons but it doesn't mean they are still paying out, I am sure that is a status against the person that say something like 'deceased' .

I highly doubt the SSA ever "purges" data. I'm of the opinion they keep 100% of the data for historicial research, which agress with what you said. That means people are not removed from the system. Their records though become inactive and that's part of what the Death Flag is for.

The problem comes from a system started in 1935 (I mean SS, not the COBOL system which itself outdated) and the original SSA would have operated off paper records for periods where there may not have been good "Birth" information (simply a note in the family Bible) or deaths.
