So High Speed Rail isn't needed?

At least according to trump. Apparently air fare is only $2.00

Which is good because I need to fly back to Kansas and get my ID so I can buy some milk here.

“We’re gonna start a big investigation on that because it’s– I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. “Nobody’s ever seen anything like it. Nobody has ever seen anything like it. The worst overruns that there have ever been in the history of our country. And it wasn’t even necessary. I would have said, you don’t buy it. You take an airplane – it costs you $2. It costs you nothing. You take an airplane. But this got started. And if you have to, you drive, you can drive.”

From a man who understands NOTHING of what it's like to be a normal person.

High speed rail is just an ego trip for libs

It is not worth the cost
I have ridden as a passenger on trains four times. Everyone was actually slow. That is long distance. BART many times and it is fast. I worked on building BART and the construction time was super long.

Yes, but trains still need a operator for emergency. BART trains are fully automated. Operator just sit. There's no need to open or close the door. BART is an enclosed system too and therefore requires heavy monitoring.
That is true. And Bart is expensive. And you have no place to store possessions like you can in your car.

Despite some progress, state’s high-speed rail is $100 billion short and many years from reality

Officials estimate it could cost about $35 billion to finish the first line from Bakersfield to Merced and roughly $100 billion more to complete the route from Los Angeles to San Francisco — about $100 billion more than what was originally proposed years ago. And the source of most funds is unclear.

Man, a lot of Democrats and their cronies are completely ripping off taxpayers.

You know -- just like normal.

Where I live libs have their commuter trains around the city

They run 80-90% empty 24 hours a day

America has already been behind on infrastructure, and this Trump 2.0 Administration wants to bomb us further behind.

Let's see how it works out for him.
Trump, like everyone else, has seen the waste and fraud of the democrat high speed rail to nowhere that Newsome In California has used to squander $millions of dollars.

Europe has high speed rail
China has high speed rail
Japan has high speed rail
Even India has high speed rail

The US still uses 1980s technology
None of those countries are wed to the idea of the automobile because of their physical size. Those countries have large populations over relatively small real estate. Outside the metroplex, that is not the case in our nation.

It is called providing rail services to rural areas
Do you have any concept of how far it is from my home to an Amtrak station? The closest is a 3 hour drive, and the only one in my state, so why no go the rest of the way by car, since it is about a 90% chance it is in the wrong direction to where I intend to go.

Locals drive to a train station and then take the train between major cities.
Just like they do with air.
In rural America, exactly no one takes a frickin' train anywhere. The same for buses anymore. If you find yourself on a bus, you are either dirt poor or on the run from the law.

No it isn’t Skippy

You drive to the nearest train station just like you would drive to the nearest airport
My local airport is an hour away. My local train station is 3 hours away. A train trip like I flew to Houston last summer will still take 5 times as long. By the time I drove to Memphis to Amtrak, I could drive to Nashville and be in the air, halfway to Houston before I ever got on a train.

Start a company and build it if you think it will make money. I wonder why no one has.
Amtrak makes money on the Northeast Corridor between Boston, NY, Philadelphia, Baltimore and DC
I have taken it many times including the Acela

It is far from a modern rail system

We can do better, other countries manage to do it

Nobody is talking about putting trains in rural America

To put the high-speed mag lev lines in heavily congested areas we would have to use eminent domain and tear down many areas where people live. Those areas a Progressive Socialist Communist dominated. You could build those type of trains in rural areas more easily. We could upgrade the current technology trains as common sense.

They did that when they put in the interstate highways
High speed rail would not cut through major cities. They could just upgrade existing track.

I don’t think we are looking at Mag Lev in cities

Highways are a lot different than mag lev. People like senses of freedoms. Inside a vehicle is freedom. Although aggravation for slowdowns in traffic and anything related sucks. There are older cities that have built many public transportation systems, and we still see highway slowdowns in driving also. Upgrading existing track needs linear direction and a reduction of stops.
