I lived most of my life in Ca. 6 years ago I moved to Idaho. When I lived in CA, that project was already being bungled. I worked to build BART so of course I know much about building high speed rail. BART was terribly over budget. And it took far longer to build. The project now favorites of democrats makes BART seem on time and on budget. The payers of it are the citizens. Later riders will pay part. But CA was warned not to do this when they said the cost was just 33 billion. Now and it is snot done, it is up to 128 billion. We should expect that number to double. They have not even laid track yet.

Yes, but trains still need a operator for emergency. BART trains are fully automated. Operator just sit. There's no need to open or close the door. BART is an enclosed system too and therefore requires heavy monitoring.
