The right of individuals to keep and to bear arms to defend themselves and their freedoms?

Or, the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights?

Damn good question! I would guess its the first one since many were packin' before 1776.

No they weren't. They had weapons at home and ready to go to fight if need be, they hunted.

Get yourself a muzzle loader if you think the 2nd amendment is so relevant today.

Gee how hard can that be, to protect themselves against the Indians, the British and French. Today we have cops and the NG.

The right to keep and bear arms in this country wasn't until this place actually became a country.

Yeah, people may have had weapons and such before the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but those were not a given, and they were not guaranteed.

It wasn't until this nation became a country and the various documents that made it so, that it could give those who were citizens rights.

What does having a muzzle loader have to do with anything?

The right to keep and bear arms goes back to when we figured out how to throw rocks.

so it came WAY before our Constitution.

using weapons to protect yourself, family and your stuff predates the written word.

Black powder is wonderful. Hawkens. Now that aside one also needed to defend oneself. Second only to the 2nd was the 14th so the FREEMEN could defend themselves as well from those who wished to harm them.

Defense. It's a biggie.

Read Genesis

Actually, Beresheit says that on the fifth day G-d created the creatures of the sea first (who are egg layers) and then the birds of the air.

So, egg before bird.

Penelope is a Russian troll, FYI. I'm sure she knows the heavily propagandized history of Russia.
