Hamas is but a piece of a much bigger problem which Israel cannot handle on their own. It will take the free world to confront the radical islamists and their support system and exterminate them if they fail to come to terms.

Radical Islam is now responsible for approximately 200 violent groups around the World. They are spreading their culture to the dismay and death of those who refuse to agree. I know What Hamas is, the problem is that Israel kills far too many bystanders shooting at them, the OP just suggested the official Israeli position should be "fuck the bystanders and bring on the big guns" and therefore fully live up to the image various Imams and Ayatollahs sell their fighters around the world, I have the opinion that it would precipitate into a really big war with all of the regional powers directly involved.

It seems like you and many people on your side have great difficultly calling Hamas what they are, but in any case, I agree with OP that there's nothing left to do with them but kill or throw them in prison. We're well beyond being able to change hearts and minds. Peace through diplomacy with Hamas is impossible. You might be on to something when you say other countries will engage in war with Israel if they look to destroy Hamas. That and the UN are deterrents from Israel aggressively fighting terrorism in its back yard. I will say out of all the solutions I've heard people recommend, sad to say, obliterating Hamas is the only one I think is plausible for peace.

Egypt is a mess, internally, and on good terms with Israel, and in no shape to take-on its neighbor.

Jordan is stable, but not good enough to take-on Israel on its own, it has a track record of slaughtering Palestinians when the herd needed to be culled, and it collaborates with Israel to contain and monitor the mad-dog Palestinians.

Syria is a mess, and in no shape to take-on its neighbor.

Lebanon is a mess, and in no shape to take-on its neighbor.

Saudi Arabia could not fight its way out of a wet paper bag on its own, and is not up to the challenge of taking on Israel.

Most of the other riff-raff on or nearby the Arabian peninsula are of no account, in contemplating an assault against Israel.

In short, the Ummah is not going to war with Israel over the extermination of the mad dogs of Hamas.
